Dear users, we all know what is going on in Mumbai in the name of regionalism. It seems Raj Thakrey's MNS(Maharashthra navanirman Sena) has taken a vow to drive away all the non-Marathi's out of Maharashthra. This case is going on from past 1-2 years since the time when Thakrey first time declared his fight against non-Marathis and in the succeding years, his followers started attacks on Non-marathis on a large scale and even attacked Sadhus and pilgrims in Prabhadevi outside Sidhhivinayak temple.

The most unfortunate thing is Bal Thakrey, the founder of Shiv Sena, who once used to give slogans of United India is also not saying a single word against his son which shows he is also supporting him. A few days ago, the workers of MNS hit Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi inside the state assembly in Novermber for delivering speech in Hindi and yesterday's incident of their creating scene in the assembly hall against a report generated in English not in Marathi is not hidden from anybody. On the top of that, the recent dialouge by Raj Thakrey to issue taxi permits in Mumbai only to Marathis has raised this issue again.

So what do you people think? I would like to invite everyone to participate in such critical issue which can hamper our country growth....

Is Mumbai only for Marathis? Please post your thoughts behind it....

We are all Indians first. Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi belong to all Indians. That is the reality. We can never become a superpower with this kind of mentality. Outsiders ruled us for approx 1000 years because we were never united and were always fighting among ourselves. No one seems to have taught this to Thackareys or they have a vested interest in trying to divide the Indians again on territorial issues. If Sikhs were eliminated on such type of actions then why Raj Thakre wandering freely he should also be put behind bars for his anti national activities.Where were these Thackerays when Mumbai was attacked on 26/11/2008? Then no Marathi or Shiv Sainik/MNS cadres came forward telling that security forces (commandos) from outside were not needed and only Marathis will fight the terrorists. They were from UP who went for security of Mumbai. In fact the Thackerays were rabbit like in their approach then and did not dare to utter a single word against the terrorists. They were watching the action in TV in the comfort of their drawing rooms! These Thackerays's "courageous acts".

kavitha you are talking in emotions not with logic.you just talking what you saw on media.i belongs to madhay pradesh originally.but i have good contacts with shiv-sainic & also with MNS activist. why you taking marathis & hindi people differnt? would you really think 1.8 carore non Marathi can survive without support of marathi.people?.if maharashtrian manus was of so cheap mentality then it was not possible for other maharashtrian to survive here.just go once to northern state or bihar you will find more difficult situation over there? i mean would you say now that bihar & northern state are also of seme mentality. it is only some people who does like this might 1-2% so called marathi taking political advantage of issue but it should not raise despise between us. i hope you will understand

Yes, Mumbai is created by Marathi people. Many people dont know how Mumbai comes into existance. It has been established by Shivaji Maharaj & for that he need to destroy Surat the Moghal economic capital twice. Europian  bussnesmans use to port at surat and pay huge tax for protection & doing bussness. Shivaji maharaj Know that if Europians felt unsafe in surat then they will definitely prefer to port in Mmbai. For that he spend last two years of his life in Kalyan fort and died in there.

Instead of claiming why didn't they do something in their own state I dont know,When did these people would learn to sacrifice for country and work for development. They dont want to implement family planning programs, they dont want to keep peace & live with social responsibilities. Whatever Progress of Mumbai and Maharashtra was done by all indians along with lions share of Marathi people. All Marathi people believe in National Intigrity. Its only Marathi people who works like a catalyst for National intigrity. But they are some limitations. Definitely everybody has right to work anywhere in country but along with some responsibilities and cultural etiquettes.

when everyone talking about Unity. How can we unit, when supreme court order to karnataka and kerala release water for TN  but Kerala and Karnataka never release the Qty of water mentioned by SC. Then how can your all expect India is one. Even SC order was not obeyed by the State Govt. We are all united by Indian Constitution but the state govt itself not obey the Judiciary head. When Mumbai is for all but Kavery water is only for Kanadians?. How many of you aware this. How many of you raise question against this.

First, we must know India was created by three things 1) By British 2) Railway Tracks laid by British and 3) By Mahatma other wise we are not one and the same. Because each state in India have unique culture and language. So we have to respect each of their culture and languages. When we are in Rome we must behave like roman. Any one can please tell how many of them study Marathi before landing Mumbai, but we all study Hindi. No human being can allow to destroy the language and culture. Because which was inherited in their soul.

hi folks.

basically it's the duty of the leaders of the state to protect its people. the true essence of the statehood. it's just that the native people get the benefits of the economy. when the people of the state move out of the state in search of jobs, the whole of the family moves with them. so, it's not that the leaders of the state don't want the non marathis. it's just they are minimizing the competition for the marathis so their share is secured. It's not just me and you: it's about us.

Try to understand...even we post a insight we can get the response...but there would not be clashes.... I think...I may be wrong...

Again says ...I am not from either side..whatever Raj Thakrey is doing, is against national interest....how far it is beneficial to Maharashtra culture ...native knows ???

I am a Marathi and am saying that we Marathis are never against non-Marathis. Neither we are against their staying in Maharashtra. But our only concern is, being served from Maharastra, why non-Marathis don't become loyal to Maharastra? Why they prefer other culture on Maratha culture which is harming our culture. Our children are these days forgetting their own culture and preferring other cultures because they get such kind of environment. We oppose this situation. Or else we don't have any problem with any non-Marathi who is staying in Maharashtra and love Maratha culture.

No ways ...!! utter foolishness of discriminating on language basis. I am Gujarati but I can speak Marathi very proficiently & apart from that I speak hindi as good as any native from delhi or other developed northern metropolitan can speak. All I m trying to say is language was meant to communicate & come together. But its really unfortunate on its part to make it basis for discrimination & fry politics on its fuel.

Well, we are Indians and most of us do believe that every part of India do belong to every Indian.

But, you can't wish away the local petty politicos who thrive on the ignorance & innocence of the illiterate and imbibe hatred based on the local & non-local divide, to meet their agenda-less political ambitions.

Is Delhi for Delhites only ? .. No .. It is our National Capital.

Is India for Indians only ... No.. it is a great ancient civilisation. A city is not built in a day and during course of its earning fame, may be some outsiders have also contributed for its growth along with the vast locals.

Should such question be raised ? No. but activities by some have helped to raise such mean minded question and we are here to answer this. Such disputes may hinder our economic progress.

However, such issues may be ignored as far as possible as we have lots more subjects to consider in our daily life like price rise, wiping poverty, all round corruptions, secirity of our motherland etc. etc.

And its marathi man who take initiative to make Hindi as national language according to the constitutiona of India. Whose name is B R Ambedkar. Do you know Where is the International HINdi University is situated in? Its in Maharashtra. So dont ever think that Marathi People are against Hindi people.

i will go for no. the metro cities are major attraction for people for their career opportunities. does any of other city has come up with this view then why these people are doing such silly things. all indians are free to go any where in the country they like to be and if it is about culture every person from ooutside carries his own culture and its his wish to adopt the present culture. we can not impose any restrictions on any one for this.

Who is not respecting Marathis. They are the great worriors of India. Bal Tak, Ud Tak and Raj Tak are infact degrading Marathis pride. They have brought down Shivaji from being hero of all Hindus to hero of Maharashtra and now only Mumbai. Your respect will only increase when you respect your Guests. I appeal educated Marathis to start Gandhigiri type of protest agaist this Tak family.

You are right Kavitha. Its fair if some one works for upliftment of a particular community or group. If Bal Tak says he likes Marathis, thats fine. But if he says he likes Marathis but hates Noth I's that not justfied. BJP,SS are true inheriters of British legacy "Divide and Rule". I want Marathis living outside their state and country to raise their voice against these guys. Because that will make Marathi manoos to understand the issue in a better manner. Bla Tak should go to Pak istead of SRK. Because he (Bal Tak) is living upto Pak spirit.Last but not least we all can Join and give an advertisement in a National Daily asking these guys what real deed they did for Marathis. If some one raising money for this then please let me know....

No, as any other places in India, Mumbai belongs to everyone. But, despite we see the politicization of this issue which lands into nothing but the drift between Mumbaikar's; what I believe in is, there certainly the first right of the domiciles on their native land. Now, the criteria for the domicile should be revised and made clear to the Public which is the need oh the hour. So that there should not be further confusion amongst people who are the Mulcha(Original) Mumbaikar or Maharashtrian.( Not only Marathi)

If all the states start saying that only their people can live in their state then we come to full circle in a way to the pre british raj days when there was no unity and the british took full advantage of it. The point I am trying to make is history could repeat itself. More than our saying that Mumbai belongs to all the Marathis of Mumbai should come out in open and speak against the shiv sena and MNS. This is not happening which in a way gives the impression that these people have the tacit support of the Marathi community which is not good for the country. As a law and order problem this can be tackled by the government as the demand by these people is unconstitutional but if the Marathis too vociferously oppose them then these elements will get isolated. They must understand that these elements are trying to play vote bank politics and have intention of doing anything good for their people.

well if it was so then soon india would be divided into states, ruled independently anf we will then have all sorts of stans...marathistan, punjabistan, tamilstan.....and foremost will be khalistan as they were already half way through before the bluestar. we should all stand up now against the polticians who use this british legacy of divide and rule policy. the distrust and anger is arosed by them suggesting that we are just ready to oust even the deserving if he is not fronm our community. if australians tell indians to go back our hackles are raised and we just sit back and watch on television the taxi of biharis being vandalised in mumbai. shame on you polticians. remember you have to face god one day...god who created us all equal

Marathi Manoos has a lot of time to waste time on thinking about its 'Pride'. I think slowly the Government of India should seriously start thinking of developing one or two other cities as alternate financial hubs. Encourage industrial houses to establish diversify their operations in those other financial hubs. Else make Mumbai an union territory and create a separate state capital for the state of Maharashtra.

What blood is body... what energy is to nature ........in tha same manner what mumbai(Maharashtra)  is to India........W e can not forget mumbai is india's financial capital......it is the only city where we will find not only marathi's bt frm every cast & community.so how can we say tht mumbai is for marathi's only.

Here Pppl dnt know tht wat it actually means if they will get separted from the other cities .. they cant even thnk tht it cld lead them into disastreous situation if they will throw out ppl frm other cast & communities. take the case of Lungi bahago whch showd tht after sending them out mumbai faced lot of crisis nt in terms of daily work bt  also io terms of official & administrative tasks.

one improtant factor we can't neglect is tht we r living in democratic cntry bt there inspite of ths we have ryt 2 say those thng who r in favour of our cntry bt these politicians are not thnkng abt it bcoz we r tkng this matter seriously.it is our duty to take step aginst those ppl......here m nt sayng come forward & start  rebeling.....

we  can do it in other way like join politics. learn courses , treat everone as liyk yourself. join Police force, become IAS ....... spraed awareness amng d ppl dtarting from the grass root level to the high level......then only this mentality can change

THEN only we Can Say MERA BHARAT MAHAN!

Well, I dont think so, i feel that mumbai is for every Indian who is capable of surviving in that expencive city. I have been in mumbai for more then 2 year but i havn't seen any moment that marathi and rest are fighting for their home town ie, mumbai.but some politician are igniting this issue and feeling their pockets.

Their are more then 40 lakh gujrati living in mumbai and this politician are targeting for all U.P. and Bihar people just because they are not their vote bank.

I believe all marathi should understand what this politician wants and what they want.

Nitin ji....

This debate was to have constructive opinions from all of us. If we don't discuss, it will be like we need to follow someone. Why people in India shy away from the real problems which is really hampering our progress. People should come out of those darkness & contribute to the welfare of the society rather than helping India to get divided.

India will never improve or develop till this kind of people are washed out. Our govt is weak to allow such cancerous and acidic people in our society.

Mumbai is already suffering as more and more businesses are shifting to other parts of India as they offer a lot more than Mumbai. Its time for people in Mumbai to realize that Mumbai is no New York nor London nor Shanghai. There is a lot of competition from other cities like Noida, Gurgaon, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmadabad etc. This kind of acts will only tarnish the image of mumbai......

Kindly regret my ignorance if any.
Nitin ji & others - I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.

But pity it is - We are much divided Inside India than Outside :(

Yes Mumbai for marathis, tamilnadu for tamilians, andhra for Teluugu's oh sorry andhra for some others telungana for telugus, karanataka for kannadas. very gud. this is the attitude we need now. dragging us back to 15 th century. Recently in Southern railway salem division was created in TN saying that lot of stations under palakkad division is in TN so they need a special zone as salem divison again on regionalism/ linguistic. and we say by 2020 India is going to be a super power. sure we will be super power in infighting. i didnt see any difference between Taliban in afaganistan and this regional leaders. They need a telungana why? b cuz some body who cant be a CM in Andhra want to be a CM in telungana. need too loot state exchequer. nothing else. some body was talking abt others spoiling Maharastrian culture. IS that culture that fragile if some one coming elsewhere in the country can destroy it.Is that ur belief abt ur culture. is that ur trust abt it.

Pls dont blame the politicians. for personal gains they may go to any extent. We the people have to realise the real thing behind this political nonsenses. as long we live like fools they will play with us.

Wen mumbai was attacked we all felt that indians were attacked not mumbaikars only. Whem I came to Mumbai I was so proud to see Taj reopened/ re built Standing tall telling all those cowards who dont hav the guts to fight staright, see you cant destroy our heritage b cuz it is inculcated in us naturally, imbibed by us , as a way of living but not some body forced us to do it.

Anyway thanks kavitha for taking up the matter for discussion

C Kavithaa,

RaJThakrey's opinion is almost diffrent from all other Thakrey's, plz listen to his speaches, he never said that Mumbai is only of Marathi people, he i\only says, that Mumbai is located in Mharashtra, the state which belongs to Marathi people. Concern is to respect culture of Marathi or any other state. As we all are indians its also our duty to respect each others culture. We also feel proud when Bill gates say's that " After Americans, South Indian people are the most intelligent ppl in the world" in same case all other state ppl should feel proud when richest person in the world says that Mumbai is the most expensive and worth property than the gulf and all among in World. Hope we are friends
