Sri Lanka's spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan claimed a record 800 Test wickets as India were bundled out for 338 in their second innings on Day 5 of the first Test in Galle, Sri Lanka on Thursday.  Galle has been Muralitharan's favorite hunting ground, where he has taken 103 wickets in 14 matches with an average of 18.

Muralitharan made his Test debut in 1992 against Australia in Colombo and has since taken 22, 10-wicket hauls. He has taken five wickets in a Test innings on a record 67 occasions.

Muralitharan's 18-year career was marred by controversy due to his bent-arm action the result of an elbow deformity since birth which helped him impart considerable turn and bounce even on the most placid wickets.  He leaves others really far behind, the other top wicket takers are already retired in the names of Shane warne and Anil kumble, and I don't think no one can come close to his record in some years now.

So, what do you think people, Is Muralitharan the greatest bowler of alltime?? Share your views on this...

I think he is the greatest spin bowler of all time I mean the number of wickets that he has taken speaks volumes of the cricketer. Though came under a lot of criticism for his bowling action earlier in his career where in a Australia match he was not allowed to bowl and then he had a bio-mechanic test and then was cleared to bowl and even ICC changed the rules a bit there to allow a new breed of bowlers who followed after that, though many believe that he doesn't deserve the top spot, but I think he truly deserves them, he has worked hard for it, and I dont think that this highest no. of wicket taken will be ever broken, as I don't see the current crop of bowlers having that discipline and strength to carry on like murali has done all these years...Srilanka even now completely depend on Murali to win them matches where nowhere else happens...truly a great master of spin bowling...

HITHERTO MURALI HAS BEEN UNCHALLENGED AND UNRIVALLED  AND FOR DECADES HE WILL RETAIN THIS POSITION AS THERE IS NO SUITABLE CONTENDER.HIS NEAREST COMPETITORS ARE FAR FAR AWAY FROM HIM.

His figures shows it all. I don't think there is any bowler at present who can achieve Murali's figures.

Yes no doubt about it.. He is the one of greatest bowler.. His bowling style is amazing, no one can predict where he'll going to bowled, and you can never see any tension on his face.. I thing that is the reason of no batsman read his bowling..

Yes Ayan Murli is the best bowler of all time. His record if broken ever, it will by another spiner only. Since a fast bowler will not last to take 800 plus wickets because of wear and tear of body.

It is a great acheivement by Murli and a red letter day for Srilanka Cricket.

I support for No.

Yes he is definitely a good spin baller but afraid to say of all times.

With comparison of records, yes he is better than Kumble & Warne but I only remembered the semifinal of worldcup between Australia & SA. SA is in commanding position with 63/1 Or something but within 2 overs from Shane score board changes to 75/4 & ball bowled to Kronje was the beauty!

In spite of his wonderful records Murli never took hat-trick.

Also one record of Bapu Nadkarni 4 maximum maiden in a test (23 overs) is still unbeatable.

Yes he is good spinner but only of recent times. as he has conceded 2nd no. of runs in one day v/s India.

As a player he is great & his achievement is also great but he is not greatest of all times. He is one of them but surely not on top.List is really very big ,...... Chandrshekhar, Prasanna,Dereck Anderwood, Jim Lecker, Tony Lock, Gibbs,Jesu Patel, Abdul Kadir,

i dont think he is the best spinner of all time. Right from the begining of his career his bowling style had issues.

I think he can be a great spinner till the life end of cricket. But his record will be a beatable one. Bhajji is in half of the way to beat his record.

Why!! Test cricket is the best form of cricket and that tests the real power of a player. We should not get lost in glamor and forget the roots should we??
BJP too is forcing him to resign but he is seeking legal options to stay in. No one wants him, everyone knows how corrupt he is still he is not willing to leave! what should this attitude be called? Do you think he will resign at will ?
Yes it can be called inside information from a blog. We cannot the understand the real feeling without facing a similar situation.
