Tiger Woods is the living example and there are many who are over obssessed by sex . They cannot concentrate on work and things are going out of hand for them. Even college and school students are passing through this stage. Is this mental state a disease. Please share your views with reasons.

Yes it is a disease.. a mental disease which makes one urge for more and more.. A person's sexuality is a complex amalgam that involves your brain's hormonal system, its frontal-lobe reward system and its limbic system, which controls mood. Because genes regulate these neural pathways, sexuality maybe heritable, but the environment around you is just as important in determining how those genes are expressed. But desire isn't just tied to hormones – it's our social need to be with another person too – which is more emotional than hormonal, which is where science fails. When there is imbalance in brain th obsession becomes a disease.

We all know it's not a disease, but considering that it has spread into the guts, bones, brains, brawn, and the very soul of the society we live in- I have to accept that it's a *contagious* disease.

Freud had classified Sex drive to be the weakest of the 5 primary drives. But today, 99.99% of youth and almost the same percentage of all ages are driven, motivated and led by carnal desires!

One has to really read the "My experiments with truth" by M. K. Gandhi to know how young Gandhi used his thinking faculty to bring stability to his otherwise disturbed mind- disturbed by desires! An eye opener.

Stable mind is the key to success and fame- even money! We just have given everything to find a DROP of temporary satisfaction!

We need to bring back-revitalize our precious culture and look at sexual relationship with the respect and understanding it deserves!

The worst of the crimes are committed when a person goes out of control in expressing his/her carnal desires.

Let's not turn something that was divine long before into something more than a hideous crime!

We need to Control it- Guide it- Master it- Youth (N oldies too)!

Obsession itself is a disease. The increasing number of rape cases and crime against women are definitely not normal thing. It shows how rapidly mentally sick people are growing in society.

obsession is bad. obsession with sex  is bad too . but not so bad that it can be called a disease.  as long as it remains personal , or interpersonal if you like  it that way, why should society at large bother about it, let alone try to brand it.

 i am not one of those who believe that obsession with sex can get out of hand and spread to the streets . it is  a mental state confined to the deep innards . why rip it open and spill blood

Obsession to sex is to me a manifestation of a perverse method of coping with one or many of an array of anxieties and frustrations. When a person is repressed (unable to express themselves) or regressed (unable to effectively communicate) then the person looks for an avenue of release. Masturbation and Sex are usually very private and so are ideal for these persons who do not want their vulnerability to be paraded in public. From there it can grow into an obsessive mania and that is where it becomes addictive and so harmful.
