Yes local persons should be given a preference in the Government and private jobs. If some government have taken this decision, at all it is a good decision. But I am not aware if some State Government has taken this decision or made a law for this.

I fully support preferential employment of locals in all projects , whether government or private. Once a project goes on-stream , where do the profits go ? Either to private corporates or state or central governments. How often do either states or the centre or private players develop the local community for the benefit of the locals ? The least the local community can expect is preferential employment. Invariably , where mega projects are located in remote locations , employment is at the lowest level viz. unskilled labour. So , this is not asking for much.

Sir, what is your "brief" here, U did not elaborate and mentioned your source ? Which state Govt. has proposed like that ? All states may not propose ' all at a time ' ... ! --- probably they have proposed to "ban outsiders" ( people of other states, residing less than for last 10 yrs or so ) as stake of such people in that state may be insignificant . --- probably they may not say 'local language' well Sir, pls elaborate and let us discuss ... !

Dear Kavita, Every state does not have / had, an IIM / IIT / AIIMS or similar institution. Hope you are not suggesting 100percent intake from state where situated and same criteria applied for job. After all calling them Central institutions have no meaning in such a scenario. The competitive structure and environment where regional excellence could be compared, showcased and appreciated by all. And offered by developed states to help improve the status of underdeveloped state is at best a dream. Should a Kannadigan, forever hesitate to make Himachal, his/ her home? Every Indian must work ensure to eliminate this hesitancy, if it ever existed.

Dear Shailender, Fail to understand the "Outsider" tag in first place and if it is unconstitutional the applicators and propagators should be severely dealt with. India being one country all laws that encourage discrimination on such subjects should be outrightly held invalid by Supreme court of India. Regionalism must not be allowed to turn exploitative or divisive for nation, at any cost. The accurate match of candidate to requirements, is much more important than which part of India he was born or is living. Wish our constitution makers and Independent Government had practiced this from day one.
