I am surprised to see the sort of subjects this community is picking up to argue, in the world where Indra Nooyi, Chandra D Kochar , Pritha Reddy and many others have lead and developed collosal organisations, how can one even argue whether women are cut out for a sales job. To pick up this subject is to humiliate countless women who are both in sales profiles and raging ahead of competition day in and out. Please let us stop wasting our breaths on topics that belong in the pages of history and move on to more relevant subjects.

No profession is right or wrong for anybody, bit the way it is seen and perceived is right or wrong. Its human thought process that is limtised by his distinctive capacities, and tendency to justify things and making decision on others capacities that says that sales job is not for women but it is very instinctive thing for women as they are naturally good at negotiations and handling clients and they know and respect the work more than men can do, so please let women do sales and earn more and more fortune the organization as well as for themselves.sales profession is not wrong for women.

Sales profession really favors women lot more than men. I'm in sales and my women colleague performs really better then other men in my team. They are organized focused and incentive oriented. At the end of quarter they are happy coz they get another diamond set form their incentive money. All work hard and sales requires that attitude and it strikes in women as well. So kuddos to all women in Sales Profession.

I have a counter question. Why such a thought comes to our mind. Is is because of the general beleif that sales profession is not a noble one. My dear friend I have come across very successfull women salespersons and mind you doing it with great dignity to both self and the profession..Every profession is noble and every person is suitable to any professin so far he or she has the inclination and competency for the same.

WOMEN ARE PROVING THEIR CAPABILITIES,ADAPTABILITY,FLEXIBILITY,DECISION MAKING EFFICIENCY ETC ETC ETC IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE AND THEY ARE ESTABLISHING THEMSELVES AS ACHIEVERS.IN OUR OWN FAMILY OUR MOTHERS,GRAND MOTHERS HAVE TIME AND AGAIN PROVED THEIR METTLE ON IN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.THE FACT TO BE UNDERLINED IS THEIR LOW LEVEL OF ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND LIMITED EXPOSURE .IN CONTRAST TODAY`S WOMEN HAVE ALL PLUS POINTS AND THEY CAN ACHIEVE IN ANY FIELD THEY ENTER.

I am a sales professional from the last 8 years, Have been since I sold my first Printer at the age of 19, and till date I have never felt that this profession has been a wrong one for me. I word as hard as the guys, earn incentives like the guys. I was one of the first woman in the sales team of my company and am going strong and have managed to carve a niche for myself and my superiors have enough faith in my capabilities whether its selling a property worth lakhs or crores. Yes It is difficult at time when you have to juggle some commitments to family ,..but its is wrong to say actually a crime to say that its not for the ladies...There are time when I meet some MCP's who tell me when I show them the sample flat that they wouldnt want to see the kitchen cause thats of intrest to a lady ..and forgetting that its a woman taking him through the tour. its a thought a these MCP's who have made a distinction ...about what women can do and what she cant.

Profession is certainly not becoz of gender bases. We cant predict that which is a apt profession to anybody in the world. Before marketing is only based on that particular region or domain. After globalization , now our competitors are their in various countries not in our state or country. Similarly sales is a profession which needs lots of potential and stuff. We cant say or predict woman doesnt have that.

Its time India scales to new heights in non-discriminatory action plans and eliminates gender based attributions in employment practices. Women are equally qualified not only in performance but also in leading, strategic planning and decision making capabilities when it comes to Sales & Marketing.

Success doesn't see the gender of the person. It is only attitude and capability to handle the situation. It doesn't matter how beautiful he or she. We can site an example of sales of sanitary napkins outside the railway station by a lady who became head of the orgnisation within a short span of time.

It is the core competecy, confidence, creativity, courage, course, certification, commitment and many more"C's" which decides what is good and what is not. It is not about Male or Female, it is all about execution of the given Job.

Sales profession is perfectly alright for women as much as it is for men. If they have the fire in them for sales, they are unstoppable. There are several mind blockers which stop potential women fro entering into this field. I remember when one small girl walked into my office with her dad for the interview. My first mindset was to reject the candidate outright. However since I had to recruit a target number of candidates and this candidate qualified to basic acceptable levels, I recruited her and put her on training. Every day I used to counsel her for some time, train her on some strategies, give her some demonstrations and case studies. Within a short span of 3 months, she was the best performer, not only for my centre, but the whole district. She was promoted directly 3 levels higher at the first appraisal from ISR to JRM.(Protocol for growth was ISR, TISE, ISE, JRM) This had been a great lesson for me, never underestimate any one on their looks. Try to find out their true potential.

Any profession in the world is not gender driven...it is driven by set of competencies and capabilities a person has to execute it. While there are many cases of failure experienced by men, there are equally high number of examples for successful sales women!! Today there are many companies which are lead by women very impressively...

Yes absolutely...Women have a natural multitasking capability..besides they are blessed with the gift of the gap, are more articulate, cool headed and dont have ego issues so yes I think they can call sales their profession as much as the male counterparts do!

I would address the question by reversing it. Are women right for sales profession? Women excel in many sales related jobs, primarily because of the feminine specialties that are ideal for capitalizing the available opportunities. The personality characteristics of women like nobleness, nurturing, comforting, ability to heal, communicate and bond with others well, able to work better in a group setting, empathetic, compassionate, gentle, patient etc help them to work well in a sales job, as opposing to masculine attributes like toughness, aggressiveness, heroism etc. (It does not mean that men are unsuitable) But note that not all females and males are similar and cannot be stereotyped. When these are perceived behavioral norms, there are many other factors that prevent women from taking up a sales job like the family make-up, limitations in timing, traveling, etc which generally do not affect a male.

Why not? Women are competing men today in every field. So, why not in sales ? Moreover I have seen, in many cases, women being more successful in selling many products which normally we men face a lot of problem to sell. Thus we can say there is nothing wrong of women being working in sales job.

Honestly speaking, for the past year I have had to deal with all kinds of people on Toostep. You may be surprised at the kind of mail I received in my inbox at Toostep and Yahoo. I think this site should be only for professionals. Anyone who needs to flirt or looking for personal relationships should seek other social websites such as Facebook, Indyarocks, etc.

Mr Diskshit, A profession is chosen by an individual not by forced up on her, its one's chosen path for Career , a girl's salesmanship is important along with her attitude, communication or presentation skills which is important to succeed in sales profession. A less beuatiful girl with excellent presentation skills and intelligence can excel in sales profession inspite of her Beauty.

There are 2 types of sales broadly. First is the customer comes to the sales person. Ladies would suit here, because housekeeping and showmanship plays an important here. Second is salesperson comes to the customer. Ladies suit less here, because it depends on how you phrase the words and how you conquer the buyer. Language is important here.
