Mr. Shashi Tharoor is highly qualified, has good knowledge and has a style of functioning which is not suitable for a politican. He has little or no knowledge about the way a minister should function. He should have used his skills and knowledge to improve the ministry rather than doing lose talks. He needs to learn functioning of the Government and that too of the external ministry. I feel sorry that he wasted a good opportunity to contribute and use his knowledge for the good of the country

We may stick to the subject discussed here. Comparisons may be elsewhere. Sashi Tharoor is a Minister in GOI ( not in UNO or in USA ). He, easily got elected without knowing India and her countrymen which is a precondition to remain in (Indian) politics. He mis-utilizes his high office and suffers from "Superiority-complex Syndrome"... cant speak fluent in any Indian language, take shelters in American English ... what an Indian ... !! Whatever good capabilities he have had, his "approach" towards people of India has ruined all. He is interested and finds time and energy for I.P. L. but not for B.P.L. ( Below Poverty Line ) people. A total mis-fit. --------------------- Latest : He has been asked to resign and he has done so. President accepted the resignation. Meanwhile, Madam Puskar has disowned her (free gift) shares in 'Cochi-club' in the morning.

It is correct that the man is misfit for Indian Polity but the reason you have given is certainly not correct as a whole. Do you remember that Mr. Throor was Dr. Manmohan Singh's candidate for the most high profile job in the world, that of Secretary General of UN and the same man is now simply a minister of state with a very limited areas to function independently. Why such dysfunction? Mr. M. J. Akbar very rightly said ".......the limelight is more important to him than the job" The episode of his stay at a 5 star hotel in New Delhi for about 6 months for no reason and terming economy class (flight) as cattle class are indicative of his immaturity and I carefully restrain to that and now the IPL issue which really puts questions on his integrity. Let us see how Mr. Throor comes out clean..........!

I think Tharoor is a misfit in Indian politics because of his penchant for putting his foot in his mouth. He is made out to be an urbane gentleman , but consider the other urbane people in Indian politics - Rahul Gandhi for instance. Though urbane and clearly upper-class , Rahul knows how to put himself across to the peasant as well as the college going graduate. He is a perfect example of urbanity and gentlemanliness - at ease with every class. Tharoor , in contrast , is clearly out of place amongst the 'cattle class' as he calls it. He should be aware that it is the same cattle class , millions of them , who gave this country its freedom. He may be very good in the United Nations , but let us not fool ourselves by calling him urbane. The hallmark of a gentleman is diplomacy , and so far Tharoor has not shown the slightest signs of his background as a diplomat. By the time this IPL issue is sorted out , he may lose whatever dignity he had garnered , because it may still be proved that he benefited from the franchisee scandal.

yes Mr.shahshi tharoor is misfit in indian politics.i think heshould have spend some time in indian politics as mla or mp before he came into union ministry. core of indian politics lies at lower level.person new to country's politics should never be given such opportunity in "indian politics" even though hw knowlegable a person is.

Yes he is a misfit in politics and at least for holding a post of union minister. Need not give any argument in support. He does not understand the crux of Indian policies it seems.

Ya I am adding my support to yes. Because He is not interested in working towards the building of nation but want to be famous through all the controversies. But in fact leaders of now a days are all like that they don't follow the right leadership(my mean to say real politics). It has been taken as guaranteed by the politicians that what ever they are doing that is only right and in my opinion he sometimes following the leaders like Laalu and mulayam not like motilal nehru and lal bahadur shastri.

Yes, Tharoor is a misfit for Indian politics. He is not ruining the honour of himself and the country though. He is a smart and very intelligent person and not at all a hypocrite. All these are negative qualities for an Indian politician. So he is a misfit in Indian politics.

I certainly agree with you Kavita. When he initially contested for elections and after knowing the fact that he worked in UN and got a good diplomatic skills I thought he could fit a role for good minister if he wins the election. But my calculation went wrong after he becoming a prestigious minister for state External affairs.Unfortunately we dont have good minister for external offairs now. Both cabinet minister and state minister's are of no use. This guy he not able to adopt himself to Indian condition and culture.... When he is choosen by the public to serve them better he concetrate on that job rather diverting his time towards winning such deals for his friends. I should this is teh high time for the prime minister to decide whether to keep him or send him.

Politicians and diplomates represent politics and nation's policy respectively. As a matter of fact he was never a politician and also a diplomat at any time. Most of the time he remained out of India.During the time ,he acquired cultural traits which are foriegn to this country. He has therefore by his conduct so far proved unfit as a politician. Other wise he is suave person and appears loveable.

Rightly said Kavitha, He is in the wrong place and he will till he learn trick and trade of dirtly indian politics. He was second in UN and was about to become the UN general secretary. What was his mistakes - spoke his mind, tried to get some developement to his state which he is representing through an IPL team. Eventhogh there is some bad intenetion in that is it wrong? How many polititians are there with clean record and hand. Why our system is allowing ministers and other MPs and MLAs are allowing to head other organizations.

Yes I agree that Shashi Tharoor is a misfit in Indian politics. While he is definitely well qualified and experienced for the role at hand,he seems to have a tendency to put his foot in his mouth.Freedom of expression is one thing, but expressing views against the ruling party(Comments on Nehru) which your part of is treading on a path which is a recipe for disaster.Personally I feel that Shashi Tharoor suffers from a superiority complex and some of his tweets though in good humour are unwarranted.i am extremely disappointed with his conduct so far in office and expected much more from a man of his so called stature.

Kavitha, Will you still continue to defend Tharoor on account of his accent, education, career success, et al, when he thoughtlessly called the economy class (i.e. used by the majority of the fliers in India and elsewhere) as a cattle class, when he invited Saudi Arabia to act as an interlocutor, while the stated GoI policy has been to refuse any third party intervention between Indo-Pakistani relations and finally when he grossly misused his office to influence and get Rs. 70/- Crores (equivalent to 25%) as a sweat equity to a not well known so-called management professional, who happnes to be his girl-friend?

No Kavitha. Tweeting, speaking you mind, being friendly, supporting your / your friends cause, and such things - do all these lead you to be called a misfit??? If so, then he surely shouldn't be in. In how many other politicians do you find such an approach, innovativeness, education level, smartness, and personal aura. To be dragged into controversies could be a part and pacel of politics but certainly not be enough to call you a misfit.

I can't agree that someone who used to be a good diplomat, while in Foreign Service, doesn't know how to behave diplomatically, when in politics. His ‘taking things for granted attitude’ that he is known for ever since he was made an MoS in the Ministry of External Affairs has been putting his party into embarrassment more times than by any other member of his party.
