Social networking sites are advantageous for employers who use them for both networking and recruiting. Because from social network we get the profiles updated so it is possible to source the right candidate.

It all depends on which social site? If your taking about sites like Facebook then i think its one of the worst choices. Argument here is there is a line each HR has to respect, a line of professionalism and personal. If the site for procurment would be linkedin or even toostep then yes, i fairly can say that its a good idea. it gives HR an idea on the candidates written communication and a little aspect on his/her ideology. But before you visit a site like this, you should have already figured out a base line. else its very difficult to have an assessment of a person. IMO, a candidate short listed/recruited to fit a profile for a Job description not known to him, is wrong. I hence stand NOt to support the use of social media.

I think that a social site can tell you about the academic qualification and profile of a person but practically hr management is about the practical effeciency. one should know how to motivate, mould and involve a person for the welfare of the organisation which cannot be verified till the organisation interviews a candidate personally. the motive behind taking a face to face interview is that it gives you an insight of the candidates approach and attitude towards his work and also you can easily access that how composed his reaction is even if he has a lot many people to attend to and how effeciently and patiently he handles work pressure because i feel that HR department is the face of the organisation and no organisation can afford a wrong candidate which might affect the image of the organisation. This can not be verified with an online profile.
