Quite many YESes and NOes later, just thought of sharing that TNN (Times News Network) also feels the ame way. Sonia Effect - 12 years that changed Congress and India Politics reads the artcile on the front page of today's TOI. Truly, had not known that its been 12 year that she's been holding fort in Congress. After loosing her Mother-in-law & husband to the cruel ways of terrorism & Indian Politics, she is possibly the greatest thing to happen. Please do help me with another name in the Indian Political field, pan-india, across-parties who's lost so much and still have active interest in politics???

Year :: 1987 rajivs cavalcade ... he was driving his violet SUV .. stopped at the brigade gate at samba .. sonia in the back seat .. suddenly an army colonels wife pestered him to come out for a snap .. he looked in sonia s eyes they talked silently..and rajiv became a statute ..sonia was the perfect choice for rajiv.. rajiv was the true COMMANDER .. still eyes .. confident .. soft .. classic ultra N mild.. his decisions were perfect for india .. he helped sanjay gandhis friends only .. his decision was perfect ( buying bofors ) bofors had shoot & scoot capability ..he taught the indian defence this and today our army is the best .. quattrochi ( italians ) are true friends of india.. Rajiv entered politics after lot of hesitation ...he was always a commander.. and now i can say .. sonia is the truest bharat mata ( who has learnt indian history from madhava rao scindia )( a great soul who was politically butchered) sonia has no confidante now .. but people like you saha are ( who after 2000 years have divided india ....) are the real miltants .. god bless sonia jee her kids and me also..........

i very well agree with all the points made above. the way she makde the drowning COngress party sail thru after Mr. Kesari.. and then kept the entire pary glued as single strength. She will be remembered and talked about in the history in Indian Politics.

She definitely is a tall leader. She lives with dignity. She has taken good decisions based on consensus. She has not given away any weakness. Today in India, even amongst opposition ranks, we cant find a leader who is even close. But then to call her the biggest thing to happen for India politically in recent times, I am not sure

Having faced life's cruelty (in terms of loosing Indira Gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi to terrorism) not so long back, joining politics was a brave decision she had taken. Recouping congress and bring it to power, not to accept prime ministership, leave all offices of profit, hold partymen together, be a uniting frce amongst the coalition partner, take bold decisions are just a few of the facts that makes me think so. Having learnt politics from Indira Gandhi and honed her talents under Rajv Gandhi with due inputs from Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi is certainly the biggest thing in Indian Politics in recent times. Which other leader could risk its own government just to pass a bill, just to quote a very recent exapmle.

Congress party was in shambles when she entered.It was the clan "Gandhi" which made a big impact.Also,we indians love to be ruled rather than rule ourselves.There were many good leaders who could have taken the responsibility like Manmohan Singh,Pranab Mukherjee etc.but we Indians have emotional attachments-she lost her husband;and this entirely changed the landscape.Also,she was foresighted enough to see the bright future of her son into India.After all who does not love weilding power?

This is a very mysterious thing : The Congress is always ready to walk behind the "Gandhi" family but won't accept even a senior person like Pranab Mukherjee as its head. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi blessed Nehru saying that his daughter's offsprings would rule the nation. The blessing has been carrying the Gandhi family through. This is no mean example of destiny. Gandhi family has a blessing to rule on the "vassals" : the Indians for many decades to come. Even Rahul Gandhi : you see that just as a son of Rajeev Gandhi he is going to become the next PM. Those things are guided from the subtle plane : from a plane that is beyond our control. The land of India has been rewarded to Gandhi family for a long time to come. Sonia Gandhi is respected more due to her connection to the Gandhi -Nehru family than as an individual herself. Post independence, India has always been a Gandhian empire. It will continue to remain so for some more time to come. I am neither for nor against it. It could not be happening without the will of God.

How sanjay ji would have treated his family and that of his elder brother. The throne could have been invisible to the present family.

It is sad that Yash singh supports an undergraduate foreigner who would have become PM had it not been for an beregilant opposition. So fortunately for the opposition we got Manmohan singh. But our wish to be a white's SLAVE. This MENTALITY has not gone even after 60 yrs SAD very sad :(

As for the question: Republican organization of a state signifies a noticeable advancement in the political career of people. It implies that the people living within a definite territory have experimented within that society, various kinds of political organizations and through the various stages of political development then have reached the pivoted goal. Which Mrs.Sonia Gandhi did not need to practice. She had been thrust upon the role of governing India when in 2004, Congress was politically lagging in leadership. Just because she had the passport of Gandhi Dynasty on her side. The Congress Politicos were going through a process of transition and they played in the Indian sentimentality of the “Awe for White Skin colour.” Speaking of achievements, the credit that goes to Mrs.Gandhi is she played the role model of Indian Congress impeccably and had very sane counselors in her cabinet. During the process she nurtured Rahul Gandhi as one of the prominent faces for future of Congress politics. Apart from this, there were no note-worthy contributions from her in Politics so far, which could be termed as a milestone in Indian governance.

I wonder what exactly Sonia ji have done for nation. Indian people love dynasties. So her representing a dynasty is nothing new. Yes she have have started something new- and that is ruling through remote. Full power without answerability to any one. She have also done another first and that is dilution of PMs office. Now party functionaries are more powerful than PM.
