Hiring an MBA graduate from a reputed B-school campus is all about acquiring a prized asset. Organizations believe these young minds can make business decisions that will eventually translate into quantum jumps in the company’s balance sheet. This should bea happy honeymoon for both the new recruits and the organization. Most organizations, after hiring MBAs who come with minimal or no work experience, complain that these recruits are unfamiliar with basic work etiquette. Industry experts put these problems down to lack of exposure or, in some cases, inflated egos.

B-school freshers (MBA graduates with no prior work experience) need to be aware that the organization they join invests a lot in their learning. They need to know that they are potential future leaders and need to be sensitive to the norms, policies and practices (etiquette, dress code) of the organization they join. There are two categories of B-school graduates with no prior experience. Both these grads enter the corporate world with no idea of what the real world looks like. It is tough to assess these graduates’ capability to manage everyday work, behaviour at workplace with peers, seniors, customers, vendors during the campus interviews.

So users, do you think the new MBA is a failure?

My expertise is on a different domain so I need to discuss about a few fundamentals. The "fresher" status is terrifically underrated by Indian industries. Here internship and dissertation projects are not mandatory in different professional courses offered by institutes and Universities. We cannot mark a new MBA as a failure or only hypothetic, in this regard. We need to classify the new MBA's by their skills and even after proper opening (at least during the course) for them is provided.

yes , i too belive that its a complete failure, its not only MBA but our whole education system should be like it gives more  practicle exposure rather than just mugging up books and scoring marks, today when such MBA graduates face the real market scenario, most of them dont know what to do n how to do.

I think its a failure. Most B-school students are theory junkies who flounder if their role doesn’t fit the textbook definition. They should have learnt the ropes at that elite B-school, with its summer projects and work experience placements. This is not just in the Indian context but happens globally too. Respect for (other) members on teams, a sharing attitude, are values that one believes are taught to students in their homes, hopefully. They reflect what society has unfortunately become—money is the only thing that counts. But it is only a matter of disciplining them at the start by organizations and they will come around.

its very awful to see that many of persons say YES to it...dont they introspect themselves...were they born with 5 or more years experiences....n if any company provide funds and training for any fresher then it is called INVESTMENT on the member for the company...and not suppose to called a waist or failure.

furthermore..if you come to new style then it is mandatory to have bookish knowledge before you step into industry...

Agreeing with you but the debate states about market planing and advertisement is a part of it. The question seems to be very open so try to narrow down the question.
