Orchestra means a group of musicians and singers, if they are in harmony then it may sound pleasant to our hears else noise, Whatever language you speak the other person or group should have to comprehend what you are trying to convey and accept the facts and figures else it becomes Galilean act, how sad this man spent his whole life to study “who is revolving whom“and when he came out with his results he was slapped kicked by priest pastors; 500 years later the church said we are “sorry”. Ms Shiuli (head strategy plan) do you understand how important language is? If we have multiple language, who is going to do the interconnection? Galileo used the language of his time, what he said, the facts of his findings were not comprehended by people; result poor fellow lost his life. India has lots of talent somehow we are not communicating we are talking, communication is a two way process listening, (comprehending) and responding, talking is spewing words. “Galli Galli may shor hai Rajiv Gandhi Chor hai” this was a slogan by communist in the 90, and because of this man’s efforts we are able to blog today. The late prime minister could communicate his idea and translate them into action which we are using today. The communist spewed words like snake venom. The Indian communist party did not say sorry till date.

Quality and standards both stem from language if we have too many languages resource generation and distribution becomes a big bottle neck, giving rise to unrest in the society, if you cannot express what you are thinking in a manner the other person or group can understand and find value, the expression becomes meaningless it’s not heard.

I support you Sudeep.. India should not be divided in the name of "Regionalism"... the two incidents that happened and happening - Telangana in AP and Marati in Maharastra are two solid evidences for regionalism effects..

I would like to agree with you Mr. Denis...it has been a problem for us from a long time and there is too much of regionalism, where one state people have problem with others....so in a situation like this development and overall growth of a country becomes all the more difficult task for India, though India is growing at a good rate, but reservation, caste system and too much of diversity is hampering the process.

What has language got to do with a countries development ? Development depends on money generated and the trade happening. Money doesnt depend on languages to help it grow rather it depends on how it is used to multiply. Commerce and trade of a country depends on the resources available and the way they are used in turn leading to a positive growth and development. Yeah ! one way growth can be inhibited is if the country is divided on linguistic grounds. Though there are a few pockets of resistance here and there, but we are still a long way of in getting divided on those grounds.

It is not the number of languages, but how you put into use that really matters. One must be able to express crisply so that the listner/receiver gets it proper.

Koro originating from the Tibeto-Burman language, spoken by only 800 to 1200 people in the far east of Arunachal Pradesh. It’s practically becoming extinct, discovered by two researchers from National Geographic. How does it affect the main stream communication Mr.Dennis? After the English speaking nations UK,US,Austarlia, India, is the first English speaking country inspite of multilingualism. And with our diversity, we respect other cultures duly unlike what the Only english speaking countries do pl see the link karmicsoliloquy.blogspot.com\

No, It is base less debate... Language Vs Growth How can we conclude that growth depends on language? There is no gap in terms of language between Indian Govt. and population. We have regional/state govt. for every different region (same language). Mostly we are using English & Hindi as a common language in whole India. It was never ever a problem for Indian growth......

The sheer diversity of languages in India is quite unparalleled in any other country. There are thousands of languages/dialects that are spoken in India. It has been reported in neurological studies that if a child learns more than one language from birth, his probability of getting Alzheimers Disease and other brain degenerative disorders is reduced. This speaks high volumes about the advantage of knowing multiple languages. As one grows older, in order to retain active mental faculties, doctors and other health care specialists advise the individual to learn a new language in order to have an active brain function. In the developed countries, especially US and other nations, children are encouraged to choose and study multiple languages so that their inherent learning skills are improved. However, in India this is a common feature. Many of the persons speak multiple languages and there are many polyglots in India. Koro is a language which has been re-discovered as being spoken in India. It was already being spoken in the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh and it was recently found out by a National Geographic backed mission team. However, many languages become extinct when the original speakers are no longer there and the next generation does not speak the language. Even though multiple languages may create a communication problem if all the persons don't speak the same language, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Additionally, to overcome this problem, in India, English and Hindi are spoken widely and can be termed as bridging the communication barrier. Thus, the number of languages being spoken in India is an asset which needs to be capitalized further. The diversity brought about by the usage of multiple languages helps users to think from different perspectives when focusing on a particular problem. Additionally, in some languages there may be words used to express particular situations/feelings that are not available in other languages. This helps to refine the thinking of the person and by knowing multiple languages it promotes growth and improvement in the thinking capacity of a person. Thus, the number of languages prevalent in India is actually a growth factor for the economy. This needs to be recognized and capitalized in order for the Indian economy to grow further. Thanks for the referral, Disha.....

Culture is a way of Life. It can not be a hindrance for growth. Because, Language is an element of Culture. It's only the Language reflects the aspirations, arts, music , governance etc. So the vehicle of thought, can only enrich their goals. Cross-linking of culture may pose a bit problem to other communities. But, with the passage of time & effective media communication, it can be over-come.

Too many languages are not the inhibiting factor. But, the problem is not having a binding state language. The languages formula seems to have failed. Hindi should be given priority and South Indian states shall accept its importance, shedding their hard attitude towards Hindi.
