Today, on the command of Shiv Sena suprem Bal Thackeray, his followers greeted Rahul Gandhi with black flags in Mumbai in protest of his 'Mumbai for all' comment and said Sena will not tolerate anything spoken against "Marathi pride." He also raked up Rahul's mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, saying "Mumbai may belong to all Indians but how can it belong to an Italian mummy?"

Rahul has ticked off Sena by asserting that Mumbai is for all Indians and people have a right to go anywhere. He has faced the ire of Sena chief who said the Congress leader was "totally frustrated". So users, according to you, is the ugly fight over Mumbai is a new low in Indian politics?

Whatever happening in Mumbai is really unfortunate. The Thakrey's are trying to divide India on the basis of language. It seems these days every mother will have to take permission from the Thakreys before delivering their babies in Mumbai. I can't understand till what extent politics may fall down? I very well know there is no such "Marathi love" in Thakrey's heart or else he wouldn't have started this movement. He very well knows if Non-marathis go out of Mumbai, it will be a great loss of Maharastra both from economic and development side. He just want to win the sentiments of his "marathi manoos" and get their votes to stay in power and regionalism is a new weapon started by Indian politicians.

This kind of cases are not new in Indian politics. There is a trend of blame game among politicians. We all know it. Punjab, Kashmir, Assam, Tamilnadu etc. Everybody has used this weapon of regionalism but nobody ever pulled this issue so long. Then why now? Just because Shiv sena is a "Religious party" and thus its a very good victim for the media to hype. So I believe, media is hyping it more than required.

Mr. Sarangapani.

There are many outsiders who have contributed for the prosperity of Mumbai. When Maharastrian peasants refused to take up jobs of drivers, watchment, etc. stating that they are below their dignity, it was Biharis who stepped in, it was Nepalis & others who watched Mumbai properties, it was North Andhra Labour who built Mumabai’s highrises, it was Gujaratis, Marwaris, Sindhis, Pharcis, etc. who took up businesses, it was Tamilians who took up Technical jobs, it was Malayali Nursing staff who manned the Hospitals, and the list goes on.  Only during the last few decades, the minority parties with zero developmental agenda have started raking up this baseless debate on Marathi Manoos.

Majority of IT & ITES services are peopled with Andhras & other South Indian, North Indians, because the local talent has not been sufficient to meet the industry demand.

In fact the success story of Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Pune, Visakhapatnam and every other prospering city would have the similar kind of outsiders augmenting the local talent in building these cities.

And now, is it not pretty easy to say that everyone else get out so that we, the localites, can enjoy the prosperity?  But, please check with educated Maharastrians for, they would confirm that to continue the same rate of prosperity, they need outside talent to augument their own.  Or else not only the progress will stop but also would decline.

And finally, whom are they roughening-up? The vagabond ‘Sadhus’, Taxi Drivers and other defenceless poor and the innocents.  So much for the Marathi Heroism!

The Ulterior Agenda of the 'Exortionistic Culture' of these ‘Marathi Manoo Champions’ have already been exposed and their days are numbered.

I do not agreewith Sarangpani, Mumbai is for all and not a particular caste, Mumbai si becasue fo Non Marathis also and not not Marathis alone

Local policiticians are not concentrating on any issue of common mass like infrastucture, prices of of food articles, inflation, hoses etc

They are interested in breaking news and only shouting in front of cameras.

Thsi is new low of politics and wonder where they will go further

FOR ALL INDIANS, ITS REALLY A DISAPPOINTED STATEMENT   FROM Mr. BAL THAKERY THAT HAD GIVEN DURING RAHUL GANDHI VISIT AT MUMBAI. HE MUST KNOW THIS WE ARE INDIANS FIRST THEREAFTER WE BELONG TO DIFFERENT RELIGION PUNJABI, MARATHI, TELGU.ETC.

AS WE ARE INDIANS FIRST, SO WE HAVE TO AVOID SUCH DISCRIMINATING STATEMENTS AND MOVE AHEAD WITH THE UNITE SPIRIT...

There's no new low in Indian politics. The Thackerays have always been appeased by the Congress. Bal Thackarey was used by the Congress against Datta Samant to break his hold on Bombay unions. From that time, Bal Thackarey became sort of invincible for Congress. That's the root cause of the problem If the Congress can dare, Thackrey would be nowhere in a short time. But it's not going to happen anytime soon as Thackarey has grown too big for his boots.

Yes, it is.

For as long as we have Nationalists of Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta, Dilli, Hyderabad, Bangalore and what have you? - with low caliber, nil agenda leaders of moral venality, inflaming the chauvinistic fervor among the lower rung of the society, most of whom are less educated, low earning, culturally very backward and generally lethargic, India will continue achieve this dubious distinction.  We shouldn’t justify this unique malady by quoting the same kind of infection as is showing up in Australia, Pakistan, etc..

I agree with Mr Toraskar  it has happened in tamil nadu, assam before.. But this time it takes a different  and serious dimension b’coz , it’s Mumbai.. the financial capital of the country and the stakes r high.. if this drags on,  it might cease to be one..thus loose its sheen

once upon a time, kolkata was the most happening city, culturally financially etc..etc..politics, and more politics (of a different kind, bandh, strikes) made the city loose its position.. Mumbai needs to be careful there..

Namrata...I am astounded by your thought. It doesnt matter for ms's economy whether anybody stay or go out of state. Ms was prosperous since from last thousand years. No man has power to steal anything from ms. The situation of every state depends on the people of that state. If Panjab was prosperous or what ever Panjab has was because of all work done by panjabi's. Same rule is applied for every state. If Bihar is not suitable to reside in, then its only Bihari's who are responsible for this situation.

Dear Believe it ot not..Its economics at the root of everything..if there is ample to share and eat no one complains of neighbour..once there is food scarcity the fight starts...Do you think this type of mentality is not there in Communist Bengal..ask the Marwaris there...what about the down south . And for that matter in even the smallest local level the localist will have a upper hand..change your location and pay to the local dada..start business in new place and pay to the local party and bhaiya..This is not the new low but the basic instinct of us...All this is not presented in media on day to day basis..but the Mumbai (as media is crazy about Mumbai) case is taken up with religious regularity. DONOT PUBLISH ANYTHING ABOUT THE THACKERYS FOR JUST SIX MONTHS. Next month you will find them extint.

I am not Maharastrian!!

But I still feel that there are different views in society.

There is a strong sentiment in favour of what ShivSena and MNS doing. It is wrongs to discard them and say "We are right..They are Gundas".

No one dares to say a word against Kashmir. Where no Indian can buy or trade property or stay.Where Kasmiri Pundits were not allowed to stay.

If Regional emotions are criticized like this in one sided manner..Then that day is

not far away when "Pakistan's dream will be fulfilled" and India will get divided in several parts.

Learn to respect native's emotion and find a common solution acceptable to all.

And certainly do not use undiplomatic words like "gundas" and "Low level of

Politics".

It won't help. And I know what ever you shout against MNS today..Indian's have habit of bucking under pressure..be it Pakistan..Be it Kashmir..Be it Indian Mujahidin. When ever some one becomes extreme..Indians start bucking down and try to find the pain in Extremist's heart.LOL

Just see how India transformed and now started finding "Pakistan is too victim"

LOL...U will one day become sympathitic same way towards MNS.
