Everybody is talking about Nano technology these days, starting from every field there is research happening in terms of Nanotechnology & how it can help in their field, and in future this is going to have a high impact in terms of the way we do things, and Nanotechnology is there in life science, construction, manufacturing, and every other field which you can think of. But research has not been completely finished and people are already coming up with its products, but without carefull disposal mechanism of these nanotech products it can be a threat to the environment.

So, Is the world ready for the Nanotechnology boom?

No not yet, there are benefits and risks of nanomaterials. In addition to the myriad benefits for various industries, they also identified potential adverse health and environmental effects. In some cases, the very properties that make the nanomaterials useful can cause potential problems if the material is not disposed of properly. For eg; titanium dioxide particles exposed to ultraviolet light can generate molecules called "reactive oxygen species" that prevent bacterial films from forming on windows or solar panels. This same property could endanger beneficial bacteria in the environment.

There are ways to engineer materials in advance to make them environmentally benign. There are also methods that allow us to consider the entire lifecycle of a product and to ensure that it can be recycled or reused rather than thrown away. "The key is to understand the specific risks and implications of the product before it it is widely used."

Whether we are ready or not any good thing should be accepted immediately or otherwise we will be the losers.

For an entrepreneur, change is an opportunity. Nano technology can create universal change. Before the world capitalises, we should move in. There is lot of benefits (risks too) for a first mover. I believe we should make our people know a lot more about nano technology

Yes. India is definitely on the move. No technology advancement was stopped because of ill effects.

Bio-medical engineering advances need support of nano technology and I understand many engineering institutions in India are training and encouraging research in Nano technology.

Actually it doesn't matter that we are either ready or not.Its matter only.what's our need dmands? For fulfillment of our needs we have to get maximum output from limited resource. And for this a better performing engeering is required.Which is possible by using nanotechnology. So be ready to welcome nanotechnology because it is knocking your door.

The argument is very correct. But the thing is that we are the people to take the opportunity forward for a great success. It is already in forwarded stages in the area of electronics. The gadgets we are using today are innovative products of Nano Technology. But we are lacking in process industries. Change in People mindset is required. India has the credit of giving Nano Technology to the world in early 15th century. I am sure India will carry it to the new heights in coming future like software industry.

Yes agreed with your views and we need still the proper solution/remedial measures to the nanotechnology regime.

Thanks for the referral Ms. Isha Verma.

We will have to take grate precautions before the use of Nanotechnology. We don't have still enough idea about the behaviour of nano materials. It's good to use it in the field of Medical Technology but in other fields we need to wait longer until we are well familiar with the chemical properties of such materials.

I support your views. Whatever is posted by you is very correct, as many of us hardly know it's reverse effects on human being & environment.

Thanks for starting a "Good Debate".
