Conflicts are quite common in Organisations. It could result from different functions competing for resources, differences of opinions, role conflicts, etc., which get settled through different conflict resolution methods and will not persistently last.  Though informal groups are invariably a part of any organization, often these groups involve in conspiracies and atrocious practices and lead to hostility and vengeance which no resolution methods can identify and rectify, as it mostly happens out of gossiping. What might be the reasons for this?Is there a need to control Informal Groups?

Yes these informal groups formulate an implicit code of ethics or an unspoken set of standards establishing acceptable behavior that is against the organizations standards, the informal group may also have established a norm below that set by the organization, subtly exercising control over its members regarding the amount of output.

Informal groups have a powerful influence on the effectiveness on an organization, and can even subvert its formal goals at times. But the informal group's role is not limited just to resistance. The impact of the informal group upon the larger formal group depends on the norms that the informal group sets itself. So the informal group can make the formal organization more effective, too at times don't you think so.....

toostep and all is not a place to manage people, talk about something real and existing in physical.

Sujit Kumar, do you know that a little knowledge can be dangerous? What do you mean by some friction is needed in a company? Do you really understand the purpose of an Informal Group?   Are you the leader of the Informal Group on Toostep if there is any?

It largely depends on the Organisational Structure and Policies. An open door policy would help the Management identify the Perpetrators and react suitably by taking proper control measures.
