Indian mobile operators added a record 15.64 million customers in March, helped by the expansion of networks to smaller towns and rural areas, data from the telecoms regulator showed.

Still companies are eyeing the global market when India has so much of unused potential...
Is this required... Should the companies go abroad..??

There are four major contributing factors why Indian companies have been successful in their home market:

1) the rapid creation of a new technology-based communication infrastructure

capable of supporting voice and information exchange (data, internet, TV, etc.);

2) very high growth volumes in terms of customers

3) access to an adaptable workforce

4) Excellent business model which enables the flexibility of offering low entry price voice service with the promise of increasing revenues as the customer’s desire and ability to pay grows

When it is successful here they should definitely go abroad and prove their potential..

Yes sure, because we have the capability, we have the source, we have the man power and over all we are the best service provider in the world.

Till now people came to us with technology for service but now we will move with both.

I think yes.Roaming is the substantial resource for generating the revenues.Very often,people are bothered about the service in unknown network while roaming. Global foot prints ensure that the mediation charges are cut to great extent and many VAS services provided to subscriber at home are available to him while roaming with same quality at cheaper costs.So,there is nothing wrong in eyeing the global market per me.

Yes I agree to Viswesvaran. If will be of great help if one service provider is available throughout the world. And when there is so much competition in India amongst service providers then why not venture out can capture the market..

If we talk in terms of need then it is not necessary for them to go abroad to increase there customer base. India itself is a huge market which is continuously showing growth but what is difficult here is acquiring customers and retaining them..

So to avoid high competition in India, they are moving out but even there they cannot avoid competition.

India is the second-biggest market for wireless services, lagging only China which has more than 600 million users. The country also had about 38 million fixed-line subscribers at end-March.

The mobile subscriber base in the world’s fastest-growing wireless market rose by 50%, or more than 130 million, to 391.8 million in the 12 months ended March, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Therefore according to me the Indian telcos dont have the need now to go abroad.
