The internet is very useful and necessary in today's world. How else would we, who work 16 hours a day (across different time zones) for 5/6/7 days in a week, be able to take care of our professional and personal correspondence, not to mention our financial and social transactions? The means of achieving an end should be labeled as good or bad based on the behavior of the people using it.

I have come to the conclusion that the internet is killing us. It's not only robbing us of our intelligence and dignity, but it also makes us more lazy and dumb. Take the dating scene, for example: instead of going out to a bar and getting drunk like our parents used to, all we have to do is sign up to some gayass thing online or we just go into a chat room and pick up the most interesting person there. (Sometimes people don't even go that far, they just pick the first person who talks to them!) So, this enables us to get fat off chips while we interact with morons on the net who are just as desperate as we are.

yes internet is killing us. it is robbing our intelligence and making us lazy and dumb. it effects our eyes causing harm to them as well as makes us fat by checking everything on internet instead of going out. instead of going and shopping in the market, the internet has provided us online facility. The home delivery is also provided. Hence one must not be addictive to such things and spoil his/her own life. Yes it is beneficial but v should not neglect its cons.

Like habits form once we repeat or like a job to do.this repeated aspects create a habit in ourselves that makes us more difficult to come out of it.Hence Internet savy people who think internet is the onlyway to get information is ok. but toreplace internet with socialisation with people actually than virtually is not correct. Well big companies want us all to get locked oninto their domain or product so that their product is thriving. Those who really introspect onthese issues and try to see the real world from its reality, then one would understand what one should do.Like mob mentality makes people move towards the mob with no directions, many fall prey to these situation. Have your grit right and take actions that you think is correct. No one can help in this its we who have to come out of this grip if it is considered so bad. Internet no doubt gives information, keep it to that extent.Social network is ok if you have know friends.may not be as good to have that real socialisation what one feels it is. Trust builds over a period.hence socialisation also builds in known people. Unknown people is difficult to do socialisation except to share their views and thoughts. This is my 2 cents for you.

Yes, too much internet is killing us. To me, internet is not supposed to do things for us. There was a time when people used to go to the library to find out details/information about anything that they are looking for. Todays generation just search the net, and copy paste. They don't even bother to read the data that they have downloaded from the net. GenNext spends barely half-an-hour reading a newspaper, but spends hours after hours on Facebook, Twitter and other networking sites. To me again, internet is a faciliator only. The home work is done by parents at work - again using the internet. How does this help the student to learn things?

yes, most definitely. Unless you are very focussed when you are on the internet, you can get lost. your objectives must be very clear before you go on the net. there is so much of "interseting" information, that at times you end up following some other trail than what you started out with. that leads to a total loss of time and effrt. not to mention bandwidth cost. ofcourse, if it is only for timepass.... it is an excellent media.

Internet like everything is a two edged sword. It cuts both ways. It can surely be a medium for slandering and degradation with easy access to unsubstantiated information and also filth. However if used diligently it also a powerful communication tool to gather useful knowledge and empower oneself. It is above a wonderful tool to keep relationship and also establish new one. As I have been saying for a long time Toostep is a great example of the same.

If you say excess usage of sites like Facebook, Twitter is killing us, then yes it is. Surfing the internet for matters like studies, news, learning, information, travelling, gps etc is just like going through a book. The only difference this has from the conventional books is that its faster to use, We are not becoming lazy, we are becoming more efficient. Instead of wasting hours or days in searching for the things we get it in seconds digitally just by a few clicks. That is perhaps I think is one of the best achievement of mankind in the past few decades.

Anything kills if you are overdosed with it...but however, it also depends how you use the internet...if you are using to kill time, obviously it kills you too...if you are using it productively (again a vague expression...but can be perceived in the best possible way you think), it provides you more than what you need... So, is too much internet killing us??...YES, if you are using it for over-socialising, over-chatting, over-XXXing etc., and NO...if you are using it for a purpose that will benefit not just you and your family but the society at large too...I take the latter way, and so a big 'NO' to the question.

Lets take an example here, when the wheel was invented, did we have lobbies which argued that people have stopped walking and the wheel is really an evil thing which is destroying our society by inculcating a bad habit in us? My assumption is No is the answer. The internet is no different. It offers a much simpler way of doing things. It does not necessarily propagate the idea of us becoming couch potatoes and absolve keeping in touch with people in the real world. So can someone tell me why we believe that internet is being evil here? If our habits need improvement and if we need to find better ways of utilising our time, then its really our problem and this is a problem that internet cannot resolve.

No, internet is not killing us, but it is just helping people, actually now a days people having no time to wait for any things so if internet providing right information on single click so what is wrong to use internet, it saves lots of time, it is era of IT so we can't stop the using of internet, yaa i agree with Puja that we have become fully dependent on internet but it depends on human either they want to use or not, but internet has become the part of human life, i think instead of killing word, should use habit, surely we all are in habit of using the internet in daily life.
