Toyota is now launching a new car in India by the name of Etios. But somehow the car which was in news 3-4 years ago...is making its entry now.

http://media.il.edmunds-media.com/toyota/etios/ns/toyota_etios_det_ns_12110_717.jpg

But the people in Toyota say the time taken was not to delay but to rethink the very manner in which Toyota goes about conjuring up a new model series from concept to design to engineering and on to manufacture and marketing. Toyota needed to think out of the box, especially in terms of trying to meet aspirations of a new vibrant segment of Indian society wanting to acquire a car in keeping with their worldly wise aspirations.

Is Toyota making a very late entry with its Etios in India??

not actually. with the increasing population and the need for more cars on the roads,, toyota is not adding to the crowded sedan space.. probably toyota is testing the market for launches later which would be a catalyst to their global launches in the future

Definitely its late, herein our country whenever you do you are late, the time you wasted in thinking to start might have reaped something good for you. Not just the late entry of new product of the existing business but a late entry of new business itself can cost a much after the longer span of period.

It is late but as the saying goes its better late than never. The part localization percentage is high which has helped them keep the cost down. They could have done a better job with the interior design as it seems too out of sync with the exterior design.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG.IN FACT TOYOTA COROLLA WAS ALSO LAUNCHED LATE IN INDIA.IT IS BETTER TO 'INDIANISE' SOME OF THE DESIGN FEATURES AND IMPROVE AND THEN LAUNCH IN INDIA TO SUCCEED. EVEN IF THE ABOVE TAKES SOME TIME IT IS OK.HOWEVER SINCE THE COMPETITION IS FIERCE NOW, IT IS BETTER TO SHORTEN THE DELAY.

The new Etios from the Japanese car maker should have taken at least three to four years ago but many a circumstance delayed it and that allowed many a carmaker, local and multi-national to establish their small car credentials and garner the spotlight. Now when there are so many options in this range of Etios...its very difficult for etios to crack it in India...

it can definitely not be referred to as a late entry by toyota as the market size is huge and best thing to notice here is that they have done there homework well, user preferences to surveys every part was properly performed and that's what makes this effort by toyota unique and no wonder this might be another toyota revolution coming soon'

Yes, they(toyota) are late with this model in indian market. The market is always ready to welcome new technologies and developments in automobiles if it has potential to tempt Indian customers ,it will surely be a good success to Toyota.New features and technological adwancement are good and add only more competition in the market. No matter other models are doing good but a new is also a challeng to them to keep pace in terms of sales and maintaining market share. As far as Toyota's technology is concerned they have just come out of bad experience with Prious(hybrid vehicle) in europian market and if they are making some delay in India with is new model ,it's good for them as they are not seem in the mood of repeating history here again. some times companies are bit conscious with their image and takes some delay in their products but it's good as far as this delay doesn't cause them demage at sales scale.

Good luck TOYOTA.
