I would say YES if you go Abroad. In india its of not much use as you know about india and also you have your personal insurance which is applicable throughout india. However if you go abroad circumstances differ and why take chances just for say Rs.1000 cost towards insurance when you are planning a trip of more than Rs.20000 (min) with so much on stake if something happens to you.

There is a popular saying "Prevention is better than Cure" the same applies to the travel insurance but the following must be kept in mind -choice of the insurance company of repute and the details must be very clear especially the country of travel, number of days and the most of all the Name, address, contact and relationship of the Nominee.

It is always better to take the travel insurance to face any unforseen circustances during your travel. You never know what will happen next..so travel insurance comes as a savoiur for those situations

According to me yes it is necessary because you never know what happens when, the best example is the recent terror attacks in Mumbai where so many of the hotel rooms were destroyed, where many personal belongings of an individual were lost and even in flights your baggage at time will go missing where you had money and if such a things happen then your holiday is a waste and the money you lost during it due to various reasons is also lost, so To Travel insurance is a necessary one to all.....Even when i am saying this 7 out of 10 people don't take travel insurance......

Definetly No. I would like to a have instances from supporters of yes where in recent times an insurance has been claimed and obtained and at what time period. In my knowledge i havent come across anything We have in Toostep a wide audience from differenr fields with very rich experience in travel and also friends who are constant travellers. There are instances where parents are travelling abroad for short period of time.I would ask participants to make survey in their circle of friends where medical help was taken in a foriegn country and whether the insurance was utilised or were they made to shell out from their pocket due to escuses/clauses in the insurance. This will give some focus to this debate

I would rather say a big NO.. beacuse it makes no sense.. just imagine even if u take a travel insurance will it gaurantee u its benefits..?? or any other means of help immediately..?? the answer is no... as i said earlier.. Travel insurance is just a polished channel of making profits and nothin else.. Because i believe that Life goes on being Optimistic and being positive no matter what happens.. such means of insurance is jus to provide fake or hiden condolences.. i do understand unexpected incidents may happen rarely.. but jus because such incidents have occured in past we cant assume that it will continue.. So Travellers do travel freely, enjoy ur stay and most importantly DO NOT FEAR...!!!

No travel insurance is not necessary as it is an additional cost to the already burgeoning cost of your holiday expenses, and first of all with the financial crisis, there is not much happening in the travel industry, there are jobs being axed every where, so when one is going for a holiday once in a while he doesn't need a travel insurance, but for a regular traveler due to work might need it... so to me travel insurance is not necessary, one can look after his or her own things a bit carefully.....
