Actually, no one will prefer Vedic education now a days, that is because, beside the art of education, the moral of the way they educate; lacks in some facilities those are preferred by the generation (not new, but even u can go three generation behind) and those cant be violated. One important reason/question is that- Whether the way of education at present is satisfied or not?

Yes, Mr.Sangram I agree with you. With the increase in the corporate education people are dying behind the technology. Everybody will study with the aim to earn money. So people are neglecting the spirituality and its study.

Vedic literature is supposed to be a part of our daily life. Its nothing to do with employment opportunities . It would be great if we can have it as a essential subject in school itself.

Definitely it is loosing its importance and friends from this side have contributed the views in the right direction. May be, the vedic Education may find its place in one or two places here and there across the country as well as abroad. However in my opinion it has lost its roots due to the emergence of modern and sophisticated educational systems. The vedic education taught through GURUKULAM in our country has lost its base & importance. Thanks for the referral Mr.Sankaran Venkatasubramanian

Hi friends, some literate sections of our society are hell bent on opposing everything associated with our ancient culture. Instead of feeling proud about Vedas which got created out of a richest civilization, these people are trying to keep them away from national main stream. They realized it can be done easily by discouraging Sanskrit language as most of our ancient literature are written in Sanskrit. We are still following the education system introduced by Lord Macaulay and the gist of his speech is self explanatory with respect to his motives. LORD MACAULAY’S ADDRESS TO THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT, 2 FEBRUARY 1835 “I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation.” The so called intellectuals succeeded in influencing our education system in early part of post independence period and tried to divide our society on the basis of cast and also succeeded partially in labeling Vedic education or gurukul system to the so called higher casts. I think it is a transition period where growth of Vedic education system is hindered because of many factors including lack of support from Governing bodies, caste and religion factors, supremacy of English over other languages, more job opportunities for English literate students etc. Though we love to practice Indian culture in our homes, but as parents we don’t like our children to pass through Vedic education and I feel this is the main reason why Vedic education is unpopular at present. I am not sure whether it is dying or not.

True! The vedic knowledge don't fetch substantial earning capacity in the modern market place. The interest is co-related to the propensity of earning capacity, which in our rat race of Living forget to envisage. secondly, its the dialect of this vedic scripts is difficult to graps so we have kept that job to handful of priest to do chanting in front of Lord to bring good fortune. But most of us are Not aware Vedic education Is Much more than some scared dialects. As a society , we should promote the vedic knowledge in medicine, arithmetic, life structure, Yoga etc.

We do not have any community or any forum which will tell the importance of it. It is just what elders have thought it is still hanging in a thin thread, probably it might vanish one fine day

Many of us have forgotten our traditional roots. "end of knowledge" is Vedanta. Classic repository of knowledge is the treasure trough of India venerated by the West for its finality. We seek happiness elsewhere, leaving our own form of education. Of course, we need to pursue it more vigorously so that knowledge about the unexplored territories can be explored.

Its relevance is diminishing since in the new world new knowledge skill level is demanded and people are more concentrated on their career.

When there are people have objections to chant Vande Mataram in schools, is it possible to go with Vedic education in India? The interest on vedic education is being diluted even in Hindus. But, as Mr. Sankaran said its gaining importance elsewhere. We the Indians dont believe in our own treasures.

With the run for earning, least interest to learn- I firmly believe all our oldren systems with value are getting extinct. Earlier days, the kings used to sustain all these by their support. Now a days we can see the funny debates at Centre for the academic environment. Awake- at least archive these systems , do not wake up when US asks a patent for that. May GOD bless thee

There are several schools and colleges and even universities giving vedic education. Some of them are sringeri peetham, vidya peetha. Of course there is no encouragement or support from the Government of India and state governments. Leading personalities in all walks of life should exert their influence for extension of support by the government concerned at national level and state level.

Yes Mr.Sankaran, I agree with you. Vdea is the core culture which keeps us united in this diversified country. More and more foreigners are attracted by this and turning towards India. The basic problem in my opinion is people well versed with Sanskrit are able to focus more on Vedic rituals and others who do not have exposure to Sanskrit feels it is a difficult think to understand. I would rather say most of our business ethics have been emenated from the Upannishads and Vedas.

The vedic system is based on handing down the knowledge from generation to generation by continuous practice leading to memorising the various things. Vedic literature has encompassed so many fields of study and many of the leading personalities are falling on the vedic literature for guidance all over the world. Coming to India there are many vedic schools and colleges keeping the vedic culture and vedas alive. True that is not pursued by the youngsters with an eye on earning and going abroad. There are still some people who are pursuing the vedic studies.

Vedic Education is reviving in India. Social reformers like Ambedkar, Periyar, Raja Ram Mohan Roy tried very hard to eradicate the inequality among human beings prescribed by the Vedic literature. After a long struggle they also achieved in rooting out the vedic practices from India there by bringing peace and prosperity to the oppressed class. But now the Brahmins are reviving the age old evil Vedic practices back into action. Now the nation needs more Ambedkars and Periyars to counter act.
