Lately online i am seeing this news regularly, as Wikipedia is going to  die as newly community created encyclopedia is going to become less welcome to users in the coming days, and researchers argument is that Wikipedia has reached its peak some time ago and the editors who come and check the content are becoming very less on a regular basis and the number of article postings are becoming less on new topics in wikipedia..with so many people around the globe rely on Wiki for many things and this news comes as a shock for many.

Is Wikipedia heading for bust, will this hold true? What are your views on this.

While it may not go bust, but it's losing on credibility asa reliable source.

The next step is to link the article references to online libraries like archive.org etc. for cross checking.

That said, it's a huge repository of information and will keep serving the needs of majority of visitors.

Also the declining rate of postings is not a good criteria for spelling its doom. Each contributor reaches closer to  his/her saturation level with every post.

I agree with Viktor here, Wiki doesn't have a revenue model and lately we had seen asking for donations from users to just keep it going. so  it is difficult to survive just on postings done by users, at some point people will get bored and will start stop driving things.

Jimmy Wales has agreed to look into the revenue model(like incorpotration of google ads etc.).

Also he has the option of remodeling it on the lines of wikia, his for-profit venture.

i don't think that Wikipedia will just die like that, yes it may not have a revenue model but believe me people want Wiki for many things and even now it finds itself useful for many all over the world, but then the contributions one sees is very less..but as Mr, Dhananjay has said the saturation level is more in these kind of sites.

I don't think so, even now i use wikipedia for many things which i don't know, and i don't know how much has the research team put effort to get the results which is saying that wikipedia is heading for bust, as it has become a contemprory dictionary for many like me on virtual world and this really doesn't hold true for me atleast, as even if there are very less happening on Wiki, i guess 3 million articles put up by users is more than enough for the reference i think.
would like to know what others think regarding this topic.
