Linux is naturally better then windows as it is most secure OS besides now you have got many different flavors which are user friendly means with great GUI which is also a fun to use for a fresher so its an old story that Linux is not user friendly. So who desires to use a secure OS can select Linux happily as im also using internet with the help of mobile which works well, im using UBUNTU but some of my friends use Fedora happily and we wont even think to migrate to windows.

It has many advantages than windows.First of all it is free no licensing issues It is more secured than windows.90% of he the windows can be compromised with backdoors and trojans .Almost the 95% of the softwares for linux are free .We have open office as an substitute for ms office all the software development packages are free in linux . In windows if the registry is corrupted thats it most of the programs wont work .The solution is we should repair the os or do a fresh installation.Even though there is an anti virus we cannot guarantee that it gives 99% percent security. But, in Linux world we can Guarantee 99%

Linux may have some critics in installing, but once installed, it is crash free n unlike MS, it is virus free and if anything corrupted, it only corrupt that particular module not the operating system. Linux is quiet better than MS-Windows, may not be user friendly.

WINDOWS IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT ALL SORTS OF PLATFORMS WHICH HAS UNIVERSAL PROTOCOL TCP/IP. WINDOWS CAN CREATE A NETWORK BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT DOMAINS, WITH DIFFERENT PLATFORMS AND FILE SYSTEMS. SOME ADMINISTRATORS PREFER LINUX BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE .EXE FILES WHEREAS IN WINDOWS WE ALWAYS FIND AN EXECUTABLE WITH .EXE EXTENSION WHICH IS THE MAJOR DRAWBACK IN WINDOWS, BECAUSE THE VIRUS FILE RECOGNIZES ONLY .EXE FILES (SOME VIRUS FILES EVEN RECOGNIZE .INF (INFORMATION) AND .DLL (DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARY AND .VMX (VIRTUAL MACHINE EXECUTION) ).
WHEN IT COMES TO INSTALLATION WINDOWS IS MUCH EASIER WHEN COMPARED TO LINUX, BECAUSE LINUX INSTALLATION PROCEDURE IS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT AND MOST ASTONISHING POINT IS IT OCCUPIES ENTIRE HARD DISK SPACE, IF MISCONFIGURED, I REPEAT, IF MISCONFIGURATION IS DONE, WHAT I MEAN TO SAY IS, IF A SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TWO DIFFERENT PLATFORMS THEN AN ADMINISTRATOR FINDS HIMSELF IN THE SOUP, SINCE BOTH DO HAVE DIFFERENT FILE SYSTEMS AND OUR WAYWARD USER SOMETIMES DOES NOT SAVE FILES ON EXTENDED PARTITION, THEN JUST THINK OF A SITUATION.
THERE HAVE BEEN RUMOUR MILLS SPINNING THAT BOTH WINDOWS AND LINUX WILL HAVE TOUGH DAYS AHEAD WHILE CONFIGURING IN DOMAIN MODE, BUT I HAVE NOT YET COME ACROSS ANY KIND OF ISSUE, STILL WINDOWS IS USERS FRIENDLY AND LINUX SUPPORTS EVEN IN DOMAIN MODE, SO LET US DISMANTLE THE RUMOUR MILLS.
A LEARNER ALWAYS STARTS WITH WINDOWS, DOES NOT GO FOR ANY APPLE, LINUX, SUN SOLARIS ETC ETC ETC.......

The fact is, that i don't feel strongly about either of the OS's. Both are convenient in their own ways. Having said that, I was disappointed to see such weak arguments for Linux (Linux is so much more than 'Open Source' and 'secure'!!). I am even more disappointed to see, rather, not see the support for windows. What i do feel strongly about is, misusing the term 'open source'. For those whose best argument is that linux is "free" (notice the double quotes! :P), let me ask, did u really buy a genuine windows copy when u started using it? Now, i know that most of the debaters really have used the freeness of linux. and yes, it is an a-m-azing thing. But isn't that one of the reasons that many Linux software lack perfection? Do u see equal counterparts of AutoCAD, Catia, Microsoft Office 2007(no, i don't think OpenOffice.org is as good) In a nutshell, I believe an OS is great if it's software are great. For me, that's Windows.
