Microsoft is investing heavily in its upcoming Windows Phone 7 launch. The software giant is reportedly dumping $500M into marketing and another $500M into OEMs and third-party software developers to give its mobile OS a much needed jump-start.

With so much cash flowing, is it too late to hit the market......

Thanks for your referral Priyanka,GoOgle( Android) and Apple(iPhone) has already their versions of smart phones and have captured a significant market space....even more LG,Samsung,Motorolla all are competing quite well with their gadgets having the similar versions of OSs.Thus i think the launch of windows7 gadget is late to party....but they could succeed only because of their brand name.

Many people have not adopted a smartphone for a reason, they are not interested in the higher cost and complexity associated with these devices. But Windows 7 phones might target a critical mass or group who are loyal users of Microsoft product......

I think its not worth investing into the smartphone market at this moment. There are many successful players line nokia, samsung, LG,etc..... Who hold majority of the mobile market...... So its better to diversify....

WE should not forgot Windows is the only product who reaches in 96% of every home in world. Windows versions are already in mobile, GUI is known from Windows to lay men also, lets see what new/different have in its new mobile os. Apple, Android, Nokia, etc, ofcous they have some or good market, but windows have different market. Now a days if google stops its service as Search Engine, then does we get exactly what we r looking for, and the same with windows, if he stop create os and same in support, r we ready to shift other than Windows for our official as well as personal work, better WELCOME WINDOWS 7 for mobile.

As far as i know there were a lot of users who were waiting for the windows 7 mobile o.s. to come out. So this is a good news for them that windows 7 phone will be launched in couple of months but investing this much money for developing and marketing a smartphone does not make sense.
