Bharti Airtel Ltd, India's top mobile phone carrier, said on Monday it would launch Apple's iPhone 4 in India in the coming months. Even Airtel competitor, and the other Apple's network partner in India for the iPhone, Vodafone had also issued a press release, in June 2010, about the company's iPhone 4 launch plans in India. But it did not mention any dates. The iPhone 4 went on sale on June 24, 2010 in five countries including the US, France, Germany, Britain and Japan and is yet to officially launch in India.

But do you think they should launch the phone in collaboration of a telecom company or they should launch it on their own?

I can buy an Iphone 4 in grey market for 33-35 K depending upon the GB. Airtel would surely price it 40K plus

The Product must be on their own for the benefit of healthy market competition & alternatives available to the customers..as the competition would be between giants..it'll be a great show of competition in the market & the benefit will be for the final consumer.........

Nothing but a move by apple to counter a stiff compettition with its rival google. And what could be a more better option than BHARTI AIRTEL, india's top mobile phone carrier.

Its Bharati Airtel who always comes first in technology and applications in india. therefore, i would always want b.airtel to be on their own.......... insted of collaboration, since they have a well established network in india.....

iPhone should come on their own with no carrier locking. But it will be much easier for them to tag along with telco biggies such as Bharti / Vodafone as they will have an easy (I wont say perfect) launchpad.

Yes, they should be on their own. I support your views, Ruchi.

Customer should have right to choose their preferred network/ model.

Thanks for referral.

Thanks,Ruchi for referral. I think the deal is already sealed. Apple have no  option but launch the "Apple's iPhone 4" under the tutelage of Bharti Airtel. This apart,Apple have to create additional infrastructure which may entail additional expenditure, they want to avoid at the moment.
