Google Earth's Indian rival is finally here, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) took a leap into satellite imagery of geographical regions with the launch of indigineous "Bhuvan", India's mapping application website. Similar to Google Earth or Wikimapia, Bhuvan goes a step ahead. The application allows users to zoom far closer than the aerial view from a chopper.

So people what do you think Will ISRO's Bhuvan beat Google earth??

I think this will give Google earth a fierce competition as Bhuvan is a web-based 3D mapping tool which uses images taken over a year by ISRO's seven remote sensing satellites, including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2. The application will allow users to have a closer look at any part of the subcontinent barring sensitive locations such as military and nuclear installations. The satellites can capture images of objects as small as a car on a road. But whereas in google only till upto 200 mts above the ground can be captured, here you can capture nearly 10mts....so our own Bhuvan is far more superior than Google earth.

Its really good to hear about Bhuvan. But Technology should be used in a pro-active and for good terms, inspite of being used by anti Indian elements for destructive purposes.

Definetly yes..I have checked it. It works superbly after you are in. I believe its a more convenient way to loacte than google earth.

I am really proud to see 'Bhuvan'. Now on we dont have to depend on google earth, which has discriminated, showing a part of Arunachal Pradesh in china...

I also think so, Bhuvan helps in searching locations more easily than Wikipedia or Google Earth. It gives detailed knowledge about each place as well. So, I believe it will beat Google Earth and Wikipedia very soon.

I agree with darpan here when i tried to get in to the site it was down , may be it had got to do with many users simultaneously trying for the page on that day...but then google earth has created its userbase and it is visible than any other in this category and i don't see bhuvan getting that kind of response as google earth got, and tech related cases what comes first stays at the top for most of the time Google earth has been registered first in the minds of global audience so i don't see Bhuvan doing that great but in India it might do well but not everywhere.
