There is some uproar on the nuclear power plants. In the aftermath Tsunami scenario in Japan and its dangerous impact on nuclear power plants, there are numerous doubts on security aspects of Nuclear power plants in India. NGOs and communist parties are fighting against it. Considering the nations future requirements we need to have nuclear power plants. But the question is with the security aspects and rehabilitation of people affected by these new projects is a big question. Do we have any problems with Tarapur Nuclear plant till date. Why cant we consider this from a positive angle. If everybody no a nuclear power plants and some other power plants how can we progress. Alternative solutions have to be find. Govts. are miserably failing in rehabilitation of people. It is the Govt. duty to instill confidence in the people on its decisions and actions.

What is happening is good and a little more safety concerns will make things easy. Why to introduce other distracting factors here?

Right Sir, Resettlement and rehabilitation is big issue.Although there are number by state govt like the Maharashtra project affected persons rehabilitation act,1999,Project displaced persons act,1976 etc, but how affective they have been in past, only the displaced people could tell. The need is to implement them with sincerity and holistically causing least emotional trauma.

This is the project meant to satisfy newly found ally, USA. Which other states would allow this, other than the Congress-ruled States? Maharashtra is chosen only because the parties in power are both Congress and NCP. No adverse reaction would come and any agitation by villagers would be easily tackled using money and muscle power. Environment Minister was also in a great hurry in giving clearances because the US wanted it! After Japan disaster, I hope, they will wake up to consider all the safety measures, which was hitherto, neglected before extending clearances!

With coming of Jaitapur nuclear power plant with capacity of 9900 MW,the power sector scenario in state of Maharashtra is definitely going to be under major changes. There are number of private players who are coming with Super critical power plants in the state and in few years it is going to be power excessive state. It shall impact the tariff structure where private players are supposed to be most hurt.Already, political parties have started cashing on the issue. So,in time this is going to be making the headlines.

i think that these type of project should be come into others states where the more electricity  required for the development of that state and India. In the Maharashtra many projects already in commissioning phase and Maharashtra will be became the excessive power producer.the excess power will transmit to other states and transmission losses also occur. So why the this major project in Maharashtra not in other state.
