i support java because there are many points which make java important. java is fully programming language and supports window and web apps both. php is just a framework for designing web pages.Security is the main concern in php but java is very secure because our access is limited to JVM only not beyond that.

now a days ..php &mysql becomes more popular n scope of java goes down. java's project decreasing continuously......some of my friends hav lost their jobs they work as a java programmer.? php becomes much time demand language related to web or internet based jobs.

Java/JSP/Servlets are not for WEB! I don't even know where to start on that one... Java is a language which can do a lot of things. JSP and Servlets are Java technologies specifically for the web. PHP MVC Framework: action class, lib class Java web framework: HttpServlet, action class, lib class, entities class, bean and more... I think PHP is better because it is less complicated? Well Java is more complicated but can also do a lot more. The choice between Java and PHP really depends what kind of projects you're working on.
