I think they would, after seeing the conditions of the banks due to the meltdown I think its necessary for them to cut down the jobs in order to maintain stability.

It has definitely not shown in the market. The job opportunities continues. But yes if the economic slowdown continues then it definitely will affect the country's industries not just the banking sector. But as far as possible the banks should ensure that money flow is not harmed as it will only make it more difficult for the economy. But due diligence should be shown to the projects given the go-ahead.

Banks are increasing their staff in order to serve the people better. I have a feeling that this upward trend continues.

One more thing is that at present many banks are thinking of expanding their branches. One example that I could give is of Citibank who is planning to expand their offices for about 2000 in number by the enf of this fiscal year and I suppose for that they would require people and that would automatically create jobs for people.

I am sorry to say this but I think my friend did not think rationally he said it after looking only one aspect of it because what I think is right now is the correct time for banks to heir more sales force and increase stability in the market and gain people's confidence.
