Nowadays, generation gap is causing a division between the once considered robust system of a joint family. GenX or the new generation of youngsters feel that a joint family is uneducative and noisy for their children. They feel that staying away from their parents is the right choice as they have conquered their goals and do no the support of anyone.

Surprisingly the best seems to be the least followed in today’s modern world. The reason for the rise of nuclear families is mainly the want of money, and freedom. But consider the benefits that one will enjoy as a member of joint family. My own example, I simply cant forget those days when my family was also a joint family and I grew up in the warmth and care of my Mom and with all my relatives around felt it is like second heaven the feeling at home.

love

i love my mom and dad

Joint Families are on the wane not because the youngsters want to live independently but because of the mobility on account of education, employment and so on. Under these circumstances One has to get adjusted with living as a nuclear family, coping with the needs of a nuclear family. At times one has to live away from the members of the nuclear family on account of transfers as a part of career requirements.

The persons who are supporting nuclear family they are considering only short term benifits like freedom , privacy etc but they are neglecting other factors.

At work place we talk about teamwork , collective actions co-operations, flexibility , adjustable etc and organisations organise various camps to make there employees learn these things. but a person living in joint family automaticly learn all these things.........So I support joint family

Shrikant I don't agree with you at all. The joint family is altogether a different thing.

Yes Sameer the value systems are changing thick and fast with the changing world.

I think joint family as of now almost non-existent in our country. But those days were excellent and will probably not return.

JOINT FAMILY has no match.Children or husband and wife are constantly monitored, guided, appreciated, corrected, prevented, appreciated, supported and what not.with elders staying with you you get lot of moral support you are able to share their experiences and decide things fast in consultation with them.children get their cousins, and extra affection from grannies, uncles and aunties.

No second thoughts old is gold;join family is the best and time tested,in spite of likes and dislikes, but the positive benefits are more under the comfort zone of parents and grandparents.

Joint Family system is a good option as support and guidance is available from the elders. However, due to mobility and other factors like independence, issues with elders, etc. many people are opting for the nuclear family.

However, depending on one's circumstances, the appropriate option is opted by the individual.

Thanks for the referral, Sameer....

joint family is always the best as it gives you scolding from elders with affection , you will get love of uncle ,ant, grand pa ,grand maa and you tend to leran different things from different members. joint family is the best one. now a days due job at different places and difference in openion has spoiled the concept and thought of young generation.they want to feel free without elders but plenty of times they miss them.

I will go for the Nuclear family as the decision making is rather easier than that of a Joint Family. More the persons more the views.

Every view should be honored & should read carefully before coming to any conclusion. Joint family is good but is it possible for a software engineer to live with it's parents who are staying @ remote village/town which is away from metros?
