There are certain words in our vocabulary which are apparently synonyms, but if you trace out examples of linguistic expression as more often used, then arguably there do exists a subtle line of differentiation. Two such words of expression are Kinds and Types that are sometimes used interchangeably without much problem in understanding the context. If we research thoroughly on verbal expressions, read between the lines and try to decipher the line of differentiation, then arguably some of the points emerge that can be explicable through some examples. It seems that ” Kinds” more often relates to relatively similar attributes, narrower in differentiation and more specific distinction among similar types of objects or concepts. For instance, some of the examples of usage of Kinds are “Kinds of human traits”, “Kinds of Business processes” or “Kinds of Mangoes”, etc, etc. On other hand, “Types” more often relates to relatively contrasting attributes, broader in differentiation or comparisons and at times across relatively less similar or even dissimilar objects or concepts. For instance, some of the examples of usage of Types are “Types of automobiles”, “Types of diseases”, or “Types of management techniques” etc, etc. What do you think?

Thank you for referral, Akshaya. If we look in the lexicography, words are constructed with the deep inner meanings. Example, GOD and Dog We don't need an explanation of meaning of GOD. Look in to Dog, This is the only animal on the earth loves you like god, Even a man's wife and children might abandon him but a dog will never leave him even if he starve them. For the conveniance of usage many words are used in common.

A good point to clarify, Akshaya....

Kind and Type have subtle distinctions.... Type - a number of things or persons sharing a particular characteristic, or set of characteristics, that causes them to be regarded as a group, more or less precisely defined or designated; class; category: a criminal of the most vicious type. Type is also used often with specific meaning in various other fields - Printing, Biology (blood type), Logic, Linguistics, Agriculture, etc. and as a verb/noun. Kind - 1. a class or group of individual objects, people, animals, etc., of the same nature or character, or classified together because they have traits in common; category: Our cat is the same kind as theirs. Kind is also used as an adjective/noun and in idiomatic expressions. Historically, kind had only one form - kind. Subsequently, kind also added kinds. Thus, we have - this kind of and these kinds of which are now the preferred forms of usage....Thus, depending on the context, the appropriate word needs to be used.....

Both the words are used very oftenly as synonyms... but basic difference is

KINDs represents the attribute of a thing whereas

TYPE is used for classification of a thing which may be based on process, technology, attributes, application areas etc. In brief TYPE is a vague word.

Actually both kinds and types are synonymous because they actually mean the same. Their difference is only in their usage. No wonder they say english is a funny language. Its phonetics and usage differs with the way sentences or phrases are formed. See for example the pronounciation of "put " and "cut". They are totally different and doesnt sound logical at all.

But thats how the language is !
