It actually depends on the kind of job you are in. Motivation has got nothing to do with the job. If you are a pilot and flying in the night, dont tell me you arent motivted. If one gets motivation from the timing of the job, then that isnt any motivation. Nor is the person serious about the job.

Yes it is not good for health for regular late hours job but we can manage it for some times whenever it is required to stay in the office after office hour ( i.e. 3-4 days in a month). It also depends upon the nature of work assigned to us but the best practice is to plan properly while you start your day and work accordingly to finish the job in time.

well according to my point of view, late hours obviously effect the health at the same time if we see the other side of coin , it can be motivated if it is providing monetary or non monetary benefits to the employee.

Late hour jobs never motivate because the mind requires rest after certain time and especially night time working shall be avoided.

late hours job is never motivator.. because.. how should a person can work more than limited time.. day and night are divided for to people work in day and sleep in night.. the nature also provides.. according to that system pattern.. this is changed in to night shift and morning shift now a days.. if organization want to get good result it must provide comfortable to their employees

Most of the people who work beyound their working hours are those who do not contribute anything to the organisation, on the other hand they simply want to show their bosses that they are very hard working people because their work loads are more than the normal, they simply stay against their wishes. However some 1-2 per cent people really want to finish the the job before time to take another job, because these people are really career conscious. Then how come staying at work for more than required can be motivator. On the hand this practice makes a man more inefficient.

Most people who work late fall under one of these catagory :- 1. Poor time managers 2. Do not know how much work they have to take upon themselves 3. Do not know how to deligate their work load (poor managers) It spoils the social life of a person as also his family life. This, on the long run badly affects his productivity. Over a period, the employee moves around like a zombie, becomes unhappy and also spreads this unhappiness to others around him.
Hence, the management must not encorage employees to work late hours.

Priority is job than time. The job motivates, time may not have an effect on the person, he will get emotionally involved. The health point of you is always there that depends upon in what frequency late hour jobs is carried out etc.,

this depends on the need of the hour... From my personal experience in the power sector industry, a demand for work can occur anytime..... A fan or pump or turbine or even a valve can fail anytime... But being in the mechanical maintenance department, you need to ensure availability of your equipments at all points of time to ensure continuous power generation... It is never a matter of choice... Whether its day or night, machines remain the same... It is only simple logic that people who maintain them need to be available all the time... This is not just the case of the power industry.... All the essential services like defence ,law & order, etc fall in this category... As regards nature, man can keep nature in control to a certain extent due to his thinking capability & analytical skills... As for people who say that people who work overnight are poor time managers, they need to realise that they are able to relax in the comfort of their homes at night, only because of some many so called "poor time managers" working overnight... And as for the man who claims that efficiency drops by 1/3rd for every hour after 8 hours, I hereby challenge him to provide the scientific proof for this statement...
