Leadership in any field is an ability to play it "the best" it’s a gamming skill; management degree sharpens it or not is an academic aspect. If you are aming for higher level (Job) Naukri and have the booty, do MBA; simple.

A person can be called a leader if he/she has led to a change for the better of his/her people. It is also important whether you accept a person as your leader to make a leader out of him/her. Alexander was a great leader but because he was tutored by Aristotle, can you conclude that he was trained to be a leader? Yes, partly. Now, can anybody help me in finding out who actually trained the Mongol leader, Genghis Khan who had an empire much larger than the romans. He was a born a ruthless leader without a trainer. Lets take some examples from India itself. Ambani was a school drop-out but a leader by experience, in building the Reliance empire whereas Ratan Tata went to HBS but a leader too in further expanding his Tata empire. Both have changed lives for millions of Indians. So what is the conclusion here?? Are leaders born or trained? Neither. You become a leader by your own will to change for the good of your people (because at times it could be bad for others, esp. in case of invaders, or even corporate invaders). Training is essential in terms of your skill-sets but that does not necessarily make a leader out you. There are lakhs of MBAs passing out but can you conclude we have lakhs of leaders? If you have changed the world around you despite difficulties, by whatever means, benefitting a large number of YOUR people, then you are a leader, period.

the answer depends from person to person,if he does hav the qualities of leadership then he must learn t sustain them, and if he does not hav any such qualities by birth, then he might hav to undergo some kind of training

Its like the unresolved question of "Chicken first or Egg first"! Leaders, such as, Bill Gates, Dhirubai Ambani, Asim Premji, etc. had no formal college Degrees, yet they could create very big enterprises. However, Dhirubai Ambani sent both his children to US for acquiring formal management education, similarly, Premji also pursued management education abroad!

Leadership qualities are in born qualities. Most of leaders are born with powers, born with talent. We could not create a leader out of some one who don't have any leadership matterial. due to certain in-born traits or talent that can never be cultivated via training. Due to cetain inborn traits or talents no one can never be cultivated via Training. It is true that people can be trained through leadership programs but these trained personnel will always be less than who have inborn leaderhip quality.

"Leaders are creative", I believe everyone born in the world are creative. But how well he competites to the others determines his success. I feel, it cant be trained. A person failed in one stage will be more successful in his next stage. Thats how life moves.

Leaders can be made by sheer training, but GREAT LEADERS are born leaders. Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln are the examples of born great leaders as they had no political pedigree. On the other hand, you have examples like Sonia Gandhi and her husband Rajiv who became leaders by circumstances. They were thrust into the cesspool of politics by circumstances. In fact, circumstances play a big and decisive role in leadership making.

I would like to support Neha. Its absolutely true that leaders were not created just by training. Leadership is an in born quality of a person if the person is really good in his leadership qualities we can train him just to sharpen his skills. Its just like moulding a raw clay to give some shape.
