When we take the broader outlook of these two pillars in business, a manager and a leader.I can say it as today's manager is tomw's leader. A leader should have a baseline of a managerial quality and politically that makes sense in the corporate scenerio. A manager has to move from his status quo to the upliftment level to attain the leader. For instance NR.Murthy was a good manager and today we praise him as a leader. So again the base is a managerial quality. Let's look at why leaders are always exceptional and excelleous people. Manager's works in certain guided principles and policies and sometime they wont think out of the box..it's not becoz of the managerial skill, that's the part and parcel of the role. A leader is one who excel and learn from his previous experiences and implement/add new colors to the business. Kudos!!! Leaders.... "INDIA NEED MORE LEADERS TO MOVE INDIAN BUSINESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL"

Leadership and management skills go together but all the managers are not good leaders, the managerial capabilities become the part of a leader

They are complementary and while leadership cannot exist without managing capabilities, good managers are not necessarily leaders Gowri

leadership without managment.... ...sets a direction or vision that others follow, without considering too much how the new direction is going to be achieved. Other people then have to work hard in the trail that is left behind, picking up the pieces and making it work. Eg: in Lord of the Rings, at the council of Elrond, Frodo Baggins rescues the council from conflict by taking responsibility for the quest of destroying the ring - but most of the management of the group comes from others.

A Manager asks you to be there in time; A Leader will be there before time.

A manager manages A leader is a visionary, managing change and with the ability to hold people together A manager doesnt necessarily become a leader A leader is also a good manager

i agree to you to you Mr sudeep to certain extent, .according to me, managment without leadership .controls resources to maintain the status quo or ensure things happen according to already-established plans. Eg: a referee manages a sports game, but does not usually provide "leadership" because there is no new change, no new direction - the referee is controlling resources to ensure that the laws of the game are followed and status quo is maintained
