In my view point, it is linkedin since, I look at professional networking. Linkedin is serious business in my way. Facebook is more popular for casual & co relationship.

I think both this site cannot be compared because LinkedIn is a social networking site with professionalism features, where as facebook is not at all professionalism networking site, its just a fun loving site to be connected to your friends and majorly for college people who just needs to be connected to their friends everytime. But i like LinkedIn because it keeps me connected with professional people and shares a lot of information and helps me to learn more things going in and arround the world.

Well I support both these equally , the sites where u hve separate space for ur personal and professional network and somehow both r equally important to all of us... it doesn't mean that if u hve become a professional so u will not hve the personal life ,....just go both way but on perfect timing ..

For marketers LinkedIn is like a complete tool(Professional, details, company profile,etc)...even if you compare LinkedIn direct ads with face book ads linked is having more options to set your target audience. Linkedin is few numbers and quality target but facebook just number

I feel linked is semi-social and semi-professional. and a decent site where you can always go for some healthy discussions. nothing rubbish everyone will obviously will get something beneficial obviously.. not like facebook where most of the discussions and points are silly so u will waste your time.

I fully agree with Vinay, the target group of the of these two web community is strategically different. In facebook, I found most of the users are students or fresher to the industry, their activity like gaming, blogging, earning some point etc. whereas in linked-in people are intended to professionally connected to each other, most of the subscribers are from junior or middle level in the organisational hierarchy. Even as per my experience is concerned, I found most of colleagues from my organisation both locally and gloabally are relying on linked-in to get connected with.

Both are strategically placed for different sections of people. Linked in is a professional site and definitely focused on increasing business contacts. Facebook is more social. Remember, Obama carried out a lot of campaigning on facebook and hence facebook became more famous thereafter. I personally use facebook only for social networking and playing games. Personally I like Linked in and my new favorite site is "Too step" :-)

Linkedin is a Professional network and facebook is a social network, so in my opinion the comparison is a bit problematic, personally Linkedin is my favorite.

I think LinkedIn is better because as a professional it gives you immense opportunities to link with a lot many people and helping you in your career growth. Even people like to link via LinkedIn.

Facebook has a greater potential than linkedin. Linkedin is only for "stamped" professionals, but facebook is for everyone. The times are changing and the definition of what constitutes a profession is also changing rapidly. Gone are the days when a professional was required to have a degree from a university or was needed to sport a tie. Today there are many professionals who have never been to the college and many qualified professionals who do not work simply to earn money! Therefore, facebook, as the widest social network connecting people seems to be a notch ahead of linkedin.

Concepts of the two sites are entirely different as described by the people above. we cannot compare the both. Fields are different hence their popularity.

Facebook is flashy and performs two functions. It could be used as a site like LinkedIn i.e for making business relations also it can be used for personal contacts. So why to settle for less with LinkedIn.
