In the recent times, we can see many terrorist attacks in our country. Almost everyday some terrorist attack occurs, Underworld has a big hand in our economy and politics, Police department itself is not secured as we could see by the death of so many Police officials by maoists and even the beheading of one of them, Maoists are ruining our internal peace, Many militant groups like Ulfa,Bodo,LTT etc have become threat to the internal security of the country. In this kind of situation, do you think a common man is really safe? Please post your valuable comments.....

Ya, it is an absolute truth and can never be over-emphasised. We are becoming more and more vulnerable and in years to come our threat perceptions and insecurities will go mani-fold and we will be living a nightmare.

Apart from internal social contradcition born out of our clumy, inadequate and dangerous definition of secularism, or political association with underwold, whi will take on and exploit their stupid and greedy vulnerabily, the external factors are gaining more evil proportions.

So far we only have somewhat rogue nation Pakistan to contend with. Now, Pakistan has become a serious threat to it's own existence and existence of it's neighbours. The barbaric and horrifying attacks on Pak givernment and military, can have and will have enormous security consequences for India's internal securities. Pakistan and even for that matter Bangladesh, will intensify terrorist infiltration, activation and active support to create mayhem in India. We have yet not awaken to the grave security secnaio emerging. We will be socially and governmentally absolutely inadeqaute to deal with the sustain quasi-miliatary terrorist attacks. governemt will not bother much simply becoz we, as people don't care. Nothing has yet happend in Bombay case and we are being rediculed by international community. The terrorists organization in Pak is openly threatens India and we just watch murmring and doing nothing. China has begun to develop wested interests and can aide and abet naxalite violence apart from helping Pak based terrorist organizations. Neapal is no longer friendly conutry either. I am shivered to think what will happen couple of years down the line............nightmares wud be better.....

A common man is not secured in today's date. We all can die at any moment outside our home. In the national capital Delhi also, nobody is safe.In the broad daylight, thieves enter into the house, steal, even do murders and nobody knows. Not only this, rowdies snatch money from people in almost all big cities. We can see terrorist attacks taking lives of people very frequently. In this condition, who can declare himself as a complete safe person in India today ?

If some one is happy with the internal security system now a days in our country, that means he/she is sleeping and dreaming. I think the Mumbai Attack, serial killing through out the RED CORRIDOR by naxalite movement, Kashmir, North East region....., the list is long. Isn't it?

Hi sharath,

When we are asking that we are safe that means we as indians are safe or not. we should not diffrentiate the indians into bihari's, punjabi's or else. The question is if we have to face the attack from the external strenghts will we face that. sorry to say, it seems impossible because of our own government policies. the main problem in our country is corruption, lack of alertness. we are not keeping track like who is coming to our country n who is going out. other than that we are governing any strict policies against the criminals as well. so ultimately i dont think that we are safe

I would not totally agree with Kavita. Crime occurs in every corner of earth. But that is not an excuse to say we are unsafe,. Had it been so, then being surrounded by enemy countries, we would have been captured by them by now. We have world's 3rd largest army, 4th largest Navy, and 5th largest Air force. And talking about our internal security, there may be attacks on police but we should not forget that happens everywhere. Even terrorist attacks and Drug mafia and underworlds are in every country. Our security and intelligence are tackling these situations very effectively. We shouldn't forget that.We have very effective internal defence forces. Problems do occur. But we shouldn't blame our security systems for that. Rather, in these emergency conditions, we should join hands with our security forces to improve our internal security........

We are like lambs in fornt of lions , govt is not bothered

Every day lakhs of people in Mumbai travel by train and pray that they reach home safe, no one knows what may happen

Let me add in a series of train blast a few year back in 2005 which rocked Mumbai on singel day , i was in one of the fate ful train , i survived was becoz I was late and missed that coach else I would have been history by now

Govt talk only about compensation (it is another method of corruption) but they never do anything about the security of public

We cannot create an effective deterrence against the potent threats ,so far we continue to project our image of being accomodative, flexible and lenient. CHALTA HAI attitude will have to be dropped. We will have to send a clear message that we are in no mood to let others play with our security. Our indecisiveness and lackadaisical attitude have proved malignant for us. It's high time that we stop tolerating the nefarious activities of anti-national and anti-social elements. Then only it would be possible for us to ensure the safety of our home.

when it comes to national security ,there is nothing like utopia exists ,india is not alone facing problems  of border infiltrations ,insurgencies, n terror threats .there are global superpowers which besides being developed  aren't immune to such problems but wat is to be taken into consideration is  dat how this can be tackled effectively, there is immediate need for adequate tracking system, which i think govt has sensed over a period of time so as  to bring in concept of UID and other such steps can be taken to create database of citizens .this will drastically bring down illegal infiltrations.when we talk about inhouse active terror outfits n criminal groups then we must introspect our role in it .this can be resolved only through literacy, equal opportunities n just society ( with this i mean indiscriminant).so creating a safe society isn't alone govt. but duty of aware n educated citizen.if we  take look around in daily lives we start our day with bribing a traffic policeman for escaping a ticket.this how we create a corrupt society n hence a unsafe nation.

There is lots of Corruption and mainly political pressure on Police. Our police have no modern equipment to fight with terrisom and government is not serious about it.

I don't agree with Yash. Apart form the crimes and security situation mentioned by Kavita, imagine the life in many parts of Bihar, UP and many such places. As long as widespread corruption prevails and as long as there is no value system in the politics, it is difficult to improve the situation.
