Google is now playing with us. On one hand it provides good services & stores our personal information. And on the other hand it is trading our personal information with the highest bidder. The problem arise when we are forced to use the services we are not aware of or don't want it...thus they can use our information without our permission against us..

Are you mad at Google now? Can we ever stop using it?

This is a serious issue & Yes we can, without our permision Google is going to use our information available on the net...Would you, if pressed for one reason or another, be able to stop using Google services? Would you give up your new Android phone purely on principle? Could you swap Google search for, say, Bing? Would you drop Gmail for Yahoo mail, or maybe use an old school e-client in conjunction with your ISP’s e-mail server?

We were able to e-mail each other just fine prior to the arrival of Gmail, right? Maybe it wasn’t as elegant, but there’s really not too much to filling in a recipient field and a subject line.

Well the fact of the matter is that even before google our privacy was always at stake. In principle google relies on hits and advertising and its interest in people's interests is very local to that idea alone. The question here really is whether we believe in Google's role as a good samaritan of that information and not leading to invasion of privacy or fraud to individual users. I think the very fact that till date google has not been instigated on any of these counts is a good enough reason to continue trusting their service. But that does not take away from the fact that individuals should be careful about the level of detail they want to share on the net.

I know it is very tough to stop use google, but this is very serious matter, without permission google is going to use our information, if want change, so firstly we have to search the alternative of google but it is difficult but not impossible..

google has created its invincible presence on web. This phenomenon is something what Microsoft was a decade ago,and created a new domain called software(which was thought to be a component to be supplied with hardware),now it is google who has created a new dimensions and dominance in web application. Although the answer is "no" at the moment , but I am sure there is further new dimensions yet to be explored ,and someone else rising to the occassion..

Surely.   This is a serious privacy issue and with the present level of dependency on IT and with its ever growing penetration it cannot be dispensed with.  Thus there is an urgent need to deal with it  appropriately by raising this & related issues at different forums/ levels.  There is dire need for spreading awareness of the same.  Using information of any person without the permission is illegal and can have serious repercussions.  Certainly there is remedy in law that in case of any breach of private information/ data legal action can be initiated.

MahalaxmiI agree with you. Though its tough to get rid of Google but its possible. Its not fair that someone else has your information & all the personal data & can use against it. This is beyond all ethical barriers & utter exploitation of user database.

There is always the collateral damage while we submit ourselves to various service providers in the cyber space.

See the way we are being disturbed by unsolicted voice calls, messages and notification in our mobile phones. It consumes too much of our time, consumes energy and memory space.

The issue is that the whole business revolves around balancing of low cost service compensated with extranious revenues.

As and when you are stuck up with any problem or you want someone to help you out, there you find Google with answers and of late it's observed that Google has optimized its search result and is more efficient and effective. So as far as it keep on optimizing it and provide you with desired result you cannot stop using it.

To me Google is God, Divine and it is the Universe. It is Alladin's Genie . " Your wish my command" . You ask , you will get it. My quality of life improved after having having something called Google in my life. My information is all over the net. I am some on believer of personal Branding . It has helped me a lot. I have not faced any thing adverse in the last one decade of my google use. " GOOGLE KI JAI HO". When I think of Google, I remember the old saying , " A friend in need is friend in deed" and that's Google for me. Still not convinced, I will go a step further .

I think I'm addicted to google ..

it is very user friendly and very much interactive.... so i think its better if google people dont even think of shutting it down..

and as of now what google has done is purely a business.. i didn found anything going wrong to my accounts..

and ofcourse who else will not do this ... provided they should not misuse our personnel information.//

selling it just for marketing purpose is still ok as we can stop those mails

If you want any detail to not be in public, dont bring it on internet because you have no control of how your information ( no matter what is going to be ) is processed.

Leaving google and adopting some other would be like taking your hand out of mouth of LION and putting it into TIGER's .

there is no one at present to provide the services the way google does, and unless that happens Google is your best friend ;) .

Anyway they are going to use the information for their business benefits. Businesses thrive when their customers / clients get something of value from them. And in turn theirs and the chain continues up to the final end user and some times vice versa. Hopefully any information for pure business purposes is not that much Bad. Google has fast becoming a part and parcel of every moment we spend on this earth.

I don't think it is possible. Google already is a giant source for information search & other related web services. Its rally very difficult to get away from it.

Feeling pressure from Facebook, which benefits from people’s willingness to share every minute detail of their life, ripe for advertisers to pick over, Google may be inclined to say, “Look, like Santa Claus, we know when these people are sleeping, we know when they’re awake, we know when they’ve been bad or good, so let’s make some money off that.”
