After acquiring Kinetic's two wheeler business, Mahindra 2 Wheelers is now ramping up its product portfolio. Mahindra has just launched two new scooters in the Indian market both powered by the same 125cc engine and is tuned for more performance. The launch has Mahindra 2 Wheelers entering a new niche in the scooter market that they're referring to as Power Scooters. Both the scooters have been developed with technical and design inputs from Engines Engineering from Italy that have fine tuned them to better suit the Indian conditions.

So with many players already there in this segment of Two wheelers's, will Mahindra Two wheeler's be successfull?

I don't see these brands competing against the Honda activa's and the Dio's and suzuki access, there are many in this segment of two wheelers that are there, and looking at the design it looks same old designs from the kinetic, so it will be difficult to crack this market for Mahindra 2 wheelers, and until they come up with some thing real innovative, its hard to capture the segment which Honda is dominating at the moment.

Mahindra can do it if only they get the market positioning right - their ad shows it as "power scooters" targeted at the younger generation which is pretty right - but looking at the success lines of activa where in it has been positioned as a family scooter easy to drive, maintain etc.

If Mahindra can overcome the poor service image left over by Kinetic Motors then they can for the kill, though the design looks outdated with minor changes only..

They have competition with scooters not with bikes.

If we see there is only one giant in India for Scooter brand (Honda). They have only ovecome to them......thats it.

Mahindra has a big work chalked out in front of it. It will be competing with likes of Honda, Bajaj, Suzuki, TVS etc which are well entrenched.  Kinetic had poor sales  & service networks. also focus needs to be in having high quality  low maintenance products.

There is nothing new in these two wheelers.Designs are old and not as competent as Honda activa. It will face as lot of competition in the market...
