Mahindra as a brand has always been very connected to Indian consumers as far as buying behaviour is concerned. Right from MM500 to MM 540 to Armada to Commander to Bolero to Scropio. They have grown interms of a company I feel in a better way than Tata has. Infact when it comes to the level of fit and finish and reliability they have been consistently better than Tata. But as far as design both interior and exterior , they somehow never seem to have go it right to make it a fluid smooth design. This is something Tata had been good at till very recently ...( the story from Tata Indigo is a bad twist in an other wise good story ) ..............In this sector marketing plays a good role in the success of a product..but higher weightage goes to overall product quality and serviceability. Mahindra is at par or above the Industry standard in both these parameters. Hence the question boils down to the brand 'Mahindra'. Can they do it ? I feel yes. This is a magic Honda has done with their Auto division which has a clear division between Honda Motorcycles and Honda as a car company. If they choose the right people to do the job, they can do it.

now a days bikes are mostly liked by young generations and they always demand for new style and looks for their bikes and if this company will launch new stylish bikes and with latest features which turns the bike into super bike and at low price then it will give a good chance to mahindra to launch bikes and can go far in this segment. So i think mahindra should enter in this segment and they can create good competition in market and they hv also their good brand name in market,so it is a plus point for them.

looks like m&m is looking full circle.. they started off with jeeps, tractors, farm equipment, heavy vehicles, LCV's,aerospace and now scooters.. what was left is the motorcycle segment..though it is crowded with products,,there are enough room for better products in the market. Infact with m&m 's rural experience ,they should be able to tap the rural segment with something better than hero honda

I think so NO Because the Main Competitor is BAJAJ, HONDA, next on hero honda.. herohonda is there in market because of there Goodwill. Now Every one in city is moving towards ACTIVA, DIO, because they have power as compare to motor bike segment. Next to Bajaj the already grab motor bike segment has covered whole.

Kinetic shook the market for the Novelty of its product, ie., CVT transmission . Then the market was not mature. Rather at those times there is hardly a choice between products. The game right now is totally different. Market has matured in terms of quality and serviceability. Its the segment that has not grown in the market.

Already there are many companies catering the need of the two wheelers like Honda, Hero Honda, Bajaj, Suzuki, Tvs... There will be less segment to reach the market. They should improve off road Vehicles is the best option

I don't think, M&M survives in the competition of motor cycle segment. The existing players have established markets here & it needs great effort to break the barriers. It can give average performance if it uses the 4 wheeler channel as medium of marketing

I support your views, Mridula . There is really tough competition in motorcycle segment & already have established brands like Hero Honda & TVS & Honda & Pulsar , so it is not possible for them to achieve the success as like Scooter segment.

M&M may have achieved a milestone in the scooter segment but motorcycles is a different ballgame.Scooters nowadays are a combination of good styling and an acceptable engine. So a properly styled product can ensure success. The cutting edge tech of Yamaha and Honda, the ease of handling and maintenance of Bajaj makes these three the contenders for a major market share of youngsters whereas the superb reliability and economy of Hero Honda makes it the favorite of more mature customers, all in all if M&M wants success in this sector they will have to come up with something that can replicate all the above qualities, which can be,as the example of LML shows, can be a daunting, and more often than not unsuccessful task.
