Managers provide leadership, and leaders perform management functions. But managers don't perform the unique functions of leaders.

I agree to akhilesh, managment  has to be imparted everywhere  including politics, Management controls or directs people/resources in a group according to principles or values that have already been established.

yes  ,manager is always better than a leader
  • A manager takes care of where you are; A manager deals with complexity,
  • A manager is concerned with finding the facts,
  • A manager's critical concern is efficiency
  • A manager looks for similarities between current and previous problems
  • A manager thinks that a successful solution to a management problem can be used again
  • A manager finds answers and solutions;
  • A manager sees and hears what is going on
  • A manager creates policies
  • A manager is concerned with doing things right

hey  akhiles ,  before being a manager we need to have qualities of leadership, according to me, leadership is primary and Manager is secondary

  • leader deals with uncertainty,,makes decisions. Concerned with doing the right things
  • focuses on effectiveness.
  • leader establishes principles.
  • formulates the questions and identifies the problems.
  • looks for differences.
  • leader wonders whether the problem in a new environment might require a different solution.

 a good leader can be a good  manager but  a good manager cannot be a good leade
