A Doctor cannot be a pharmacist and a pharmacist cannot be a doctor. As a know there is so many technicalities and regulation involve in manufacturing drugs and a patients need various drugs for the treatments so for a hospital it imposible to manage a drug production units.

I actually disagree with my friend. There are many drugs like which are produced in the hospitals such as Mary Washington hired Central Admixture Pharmacy Services which are used in the blended cardiac surgery the solution stops the heart from beating during bypass surgery and must be sterile because it is infused directly into the heart. Now these kind of drugs needs to be manufactured in the hospitals itself.

i support against this idea, there is no way that Hospitals can manufacture drugs, it is a total different entity where so much R&D is involved, so leave hospitals  out of this and let pharmaceutical companies do what they do best.....

i am Totally against this idea where drug is manufactured by the Hospitals, it has more to do with as Beena has said, like Microbiologists, biotech people and biochemistry and and doctors can give just insight while the phase trials like what should be the dosage and stuff like that, so with so much R&D that is involved in the production of a drug, so i am against this and really agree with Beena and Aditya's comments.....

Drug manufacture is totally different aspect from doctors work.A doctor can never manufacture drug,he can diagnose diseases and rectify thenm through chemical applications, while drug manufacturing is different science or business which is a job of chemist or biotechnologist and also microbiologists too.Ya ,drug can be manufactured in association with hospitals but it will have total different unit.

In this day and age of specialization, we can't afford to think of consolidating industries. Hospitals specialise in care and pharmacueticals in R&D and manufacture of medicine. To merge the two is like going back in time.

YES I DO AGREE with Mr. hameed and anil..

now so much diversified responsibilties and job itself is sighned to the doctors.. but most important is still there respnsibility to patients.. so drug manufacturing and other droug discoveries   are  really tough to manage..

As we all know the hospitals are the most crowded places nowdays. The time pressure, and the cost of having the staff and equipment to mix drugs, leads some hospitals to hire outside pharmacies to make compounded products, including difficult-to-prepare sterile drugs. This leads to high prices which is very difficult for hospitals to maintain.
