I agree with you deepak, best word to represent marketing. Yes marketing is the backbone of any business and then comes the HR and other department. If marketing is not there then other department cannot not survive.

So to be successful be strong in the marketing area....... :)

Money is the spinal chord of any business and marketing is the tool to keep it nourish. There is only the value of money in the business and nothing else. everyone know this. i dont know how many will accept this out. but internally they all know that the most important thing is money.

The other side of marketing in these days is too fool the people. There are the many cases where because of marketing at upper or lower level general people got trouble.

like when a policy advt. come all things are bigger but the caution that your money is going in to market risk is very tiny. This is the marketing to make people fool. if you are true why the caution and the benefits are not in the same size letter. Rest i should not say you people are very wise to understand all this.

Please don't make comparison between the departments. I agree with the statement that "Market is the spinal cord of company" But it doesn't mean that HR or any other department comes later. Times has changed now if all department runs along with management only then company succeed. 7 M's are (1) Men (2) Money (3) Market (4) Machine (5) Method (6) Material (7) Measurement

Itz true Markeing is the spinal cord because no other deprtment can give any company the stand which they want in future Letz play two minutes life game: Just imagine any product Now Imagine without the term MARKET Now Imagine without any other dept ex - HR but marketing is there Same do it continously with all the departments which you know This is the fact which you will come to know better than any other.

Yes, I agree. Marketing is the integral part of any organization or human being. We are human beings do the same. We want to sale ourselves so each one of us does marketing. Without marketing No company can make profit & no candidate can get selected in Interview.

THANK YOU SUJATHA.

MARKETING IS THE BRIDGE TAKING THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE TO THE END CONSUMERS BRINGING IN MONEY INCLUDING PROFITS FOR ANY ORGANISATION. AND THIS IS ONE ACTIVITY WHICH IS ABOVE ALL OTHERS BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE DONE TODAY AND COULD NOT BE POSTPONED OR DONE AT A LATER DATE.(UNLIKE OTHER ACTIVITIES) A SALE MISSED IS MISSED FOR EVER.THERE IS AN OLD SAYING: FOR WANT OF A NAIL A SHOE IS LOST,FOR WANT OF A SHOE A HORSE IS LOST FOR WANT OF A HORSE A RIDER IS LOST AS FOR WANT OF A CUSTOMER SALE IS LOST AND WANT OF A SALE ALL IS LOST.

Yes, Marketing is the backbone of any company which is sales oriented. The complete sales of the products/services depends on how the marketing is done. Without effective marketing strategies, the entire business of the organisation can crumble. Hence is Marketing IS the spine of the company, for sure.

whithout having good human resources how can to u do the marketing .so every department depend upon the good human resources.because marketing is different and market. marketing means creating demand for a product but market means which the place product buying and selling. marketing . marketing done by the human resources .when avcomapany have good human resources then easily creat demand for product . so think market is different and marketing.hr is essential for every comapany . i can support hr. this is the very vast topic to discuss. so mainly know what is market and what is marketing

its true deepak......

when you cant find a market for your porduct how worst it might be.... then other dept. dont have any work.

only based on the company's market position and share, the planning in the other departments can be done successfully.

If one is comparing an organisation with a human body then neither of the above is correct. The best comparison would be - The Head with the brain, and the five senses is the Management, The Backbone or Spine of an organisation is the Production, as without this there is no need for Marketing or HR, Logistics is the Legs, Marketing the arms which reach out, HR is the heart and lungs, Finance is the stomach and so on. Would anyone like to argue this?

Of course the marketting is havng a remarkable role in business but, if you wl consider the business like a Body and its different departments r like diff organs of the body then,  dont you think without any of a organ the body or say the business wl become handicapped ??? I think all departments has its own important and expertise so, to run the buzz healthy n successful, all of its depts shuld be strong enough. I am sure that it wl convince you all... pl acknowledge the same if its so...

Of course, you are right up to an extent,,, but if you consider the Business like a Body and body organs r like its different department like Mrktng, HR, Production, Service after Sale, etc... then each dept has its own important, do you think any of them can be substitute of another ? its not impossible but definitely a difficult task, then like a body as become handicapped the business also wl do... So, each n every department has its own important and expertise to run the business succesfull like an athlett's body, I am sure that it wl be convincing to all...

well said and very true, though colleagues from all other disciplines may not agree to it. An accounts guy or a production guy or any other department, needs to be knowledgeable in their line of work whereas a marketing guy needs to know info on all other diciplines along with his own in order to bring in sales to the organisation.

Marketing is really a vital cog in the industrial wheel.

This is a universal truth that the marketing is the spinal of any business or organization. Without marketing u cannot find any growth. I agree with Mr. Mishra that each and every department covers by the marketing. The mark of eating is (MARKETING).

Yes deepak, it is true that Marketing is the spinal cord of any company. I must add that Marketing covers all the areas of the company that may be HR, Production, Quality, Logistics, Peon, and even chaiwala.

As far my experience any of said area is weak, all things will collapsed. If your product quality is not good, your logistic not deliver the material in time etc are directly affected on the marketing.

I Think the metaphor of a spinal cord is a problem. Peter Drucker suggests that marketing should be integrated in all activities in an organization, because it is all about understanding the needs and wishes of the customers. Usually marketing as a specific function and department does not reflect this idea. Marketing would benefit much more from a metaphor of a hologram.

A systemic wish to embrace the customers need and wishes would be a very good approach to marketing. This is the idea behind userdriven innovasion and a large part of Open Innovation.

Sujatha,

For marketing a product, as well as managing various other functions, human resource is necessary. It still does not make HR the backbone as what will humans make or sell.

What would marketing purport to sell if there is no product so the project visualiser, design planner, financier, operational forces everyone is required. And which industry utilises how much of that function is not standard.

A monopoly product or service may not require marketing, you would agree. So would we call it boneless in that case.

Human resources is essential for all above including marketing.

IF MARKETING IS THE SPINAL CORD THEN HR IS TH BODY IN WHICH SPINAL CORD IS FITTED. ITS THE HR WHO MARKETED THE COMPANY PROFILE SO THAT TALENTED MARKETING PERSONS LIKE U JOINS THE ORGANISATION. IN SHORT IF HR RECRUITS WRONG PERSON THEN NO COMPANY SURVIVES.

Marketing is a techniq or a tool to sell off your products. HR is a resource center. Marketing is interwoven with HR element in such a way that one can not survive without the other. Rather, in simple terms, they are inter-dependent. The- mutually- exclusive- zone, is very minimal, if the Marketing is to be at its best. Ofcourse, the base for marketing is the population / consumers. But, the wiseful marketing strategy is planned with HR elements whatsoever, the set up is manned. No element is absoultely, independent. So, a marketer needs to use this kind of tools in his planning strategy.
