We can't saw like that but of course  marketing plays a vital role in selling but apart from that the quality of the product which will make the selling superfluous. So a products sales depends on all the factors....... not only marketing !!!!

Marketing is the key of sucess. Though you have good products but if you dont have marketing skills may suffer losses.

I think the product quality is one of the basic marketing tool that we apply while going for the distribution because the product is the bundle of attributes that is sold with  good marketing tactics...selling mainly focusses on the sellers viewpoint and product quality reminds us of the end user that is customer's perception and whenever we do that we are indirectly talking about marketing itself....branding and advertising which are vital arenas of marketing tries to focus the product quality and product quality is another point which gives us the concept of differentiation..how can we think all these without the basic concept of marketing at the back???

Yes, I feel that marketing is essentially required with selling.because it is true without the efforts of selling people will not buy but obviously to make more revenues and to draw profits it is mandatory to apply the various marketing tactics.Hence rightly said marketing makes selling superfluous.

it depends on how the marketing is being done. If it generating conversations and spreading awareness then it is not superfluous but sensible. If it becomes self promotory and pushes other products down then its gets superfluous. What do you guys think? http://www.sutralite.com

Marketing and sales go hand in hand. If the product is good it does not require fundas of marketing. The product will sell super fast but if the quality is bad even the biggest marketing campaign will not help sell the product. Quality spaks when the product has to sell.

People are just not dumb enough to make this argument actually work.

You'll never have problem selling a lemonade to a thirsty, but otherwise - you just imagine too much.

A friend of mine made a nice sales projection formula that takes into account marketing efforts as well. and, well, it appears that products that are aggressively marketed sell much faster, and also swtop selling much faster. So the net result is - a large marketing bill. Nothing else.

First of all I would like to say that marketing and selling goes hand in hand no one can be superior on other.

Marketing can never makes selling superfluous because for making any product successfull sell skills and marketing skills both are required.People are right that quality of product is most important but to making reach of any product to the customer sells skills are required. Marketing strategies which are being made in a AC office can not be succesfull untill not being applied by sells guys in th field. SMART objectives are possible only practically and that with the help of sells guys.

So again i would like to say MARKETING CAN NEVER MAKES SELLING SUPERFLUOUS and vice versa.
