As we all know our country is agriculture based.Significant percentage of GDP comes from that only.Specially in this economical downturn purchasing power of urban consumer has reduced.Bt rural people whose income comes from selling agriculturual products, they didnt see such dearth in purchasing power,Rather because of inflationary pressure product price is going up,rural people are enjoying that extra profit also.So it will be a viable decision for maruti to concentrate on rural consumers.

yes, this is  right  move from Maruti, As inflationary pressures and rising interest costs have dampened demand in the urban pockets The signs of economic development are becoming more visible in rural India.63.5% of rural buyers buy cars in cash where as only 30% buy in cash in metros.

available, providing a low cost option to the rural customer. Many a time the rural customer may not be aware of the difference due to illiteracy.
Dispersed markets: Rural population is highly dispersed and requires a lot of marketing efforts in terms of distribution and   communication
example, tata sumo, quallis, scorpio, these brands  could be a  biggest competitors,
