One needs to really, really brush up ones knowledge on these issues, before you raise concerns of safety. Most of the Sr. Surgeons & Conslutants of corporate hospitals like, Apollo, Care, Image, et al practice and teach half the time in an year in the top-notch American and Western European hospitals. When they are safe there, why can't they be safe to the foreign patients in India? And when they are safe for Indian patients why can’t they be safe to the ohters. And finally whatever latest sopisticated equipments are available there are almost instantly available with some of the Indian Hospitals too.

Maybe it's happened to you: you need an expensive medical procedure, but you don't have the healthcare coverage to pay for it. Whether it's heart surgery with the price tag of a house, dental work or plastic surgery, medical care is very expensive in the United States. So what about countries like Belgium, Mexico and India, where you can get surgery at a fraction of the cost? It's called medical tourism, but is it safe? Here are the pros and cons, and what you should consider before going abroad to get surgery.

I THINK REACTION MADE BY SOME GUYS ARE REALLY EXAGGERATED.THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC AS SUCH BECAUSE PRACTICALLY SPEAKING MEDICAL TOURISM IS NOTHING BUT DEFINED AS ANY INDIVIDUAL HAVING TREATMENT ALONG WITH SIGHTSEEING AND SHOPPING IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. IF YOU SEE MEDICAL SECTOR IN INDIA THEY HAVE IMPROVED A LOT IN 2004 ESTIMATE 1.5 LAKH PEOPLE VISITED COUNTRY FOR TAKING TREATMENT AND FIGURE IS GOING TO BE DOUBLED TILL YEAR 2014 AND SINCE MEDICAL TREATMENT IN SOME OF THE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES IS FAR TOO EXPENSIVE MANY SEE ANOTHER OPTION AND VISIT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA . BECAUSE WE HAVE A WORLD CLASS DOCTORS AND MANY PRIVATE HOSPITALS COMING UP AND FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN HEALTH SECTOR I THINK WE ARE CATCHING UP VERY FAST TO THE STANDARD LAID DOWN BY THE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES AND PEOPLE SHOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.
