For women carrying stuff in a purse is much, much easier than stuffing everything in your pants pockets.

If briefcases are ok for men to carry around then there should be no reason why other bags with classic elements, like messenger bags, can't be an accepted accessories for today's modern man.

Are we going to see more men carrying bags than stuffing everything in their pants pocket in the near future ?

Have men accepted the change ?

I am not sure which side to support here. From my observation all the professional men I know carry attache` cases or brief cases. Other working men also would carry bags/haversacks especially the ones who takes meals to work.

These are modern times, it is hard to believe that men still stuff things in their pockets.

Women and bags share a bond stronger than handcuffs.....hehe.
Telling a woman to leave her home without a handbag is like asking a divorce and destructive police officer to work unarmed, it’s an improbable occurrence. That devotion to handbags shall be left for women and I see it can never grow in any man’s heart as real men don't carry handbags.

men prefer to carry just one bag during the weekdays which consists of the notebook, a year planner, and some additional items like post-its, a small diary, etc. On weekends, a cell-phone is all that you will find-rightly said by Mr. Mehernath.

Mr. Kasuri not cat most of the time a tiger pops out, generally for office work we prefer to carry bag so that we can carry many things like my other friends said but once off the work we prefer to go out only with cell phone at the most a dairy... but definately not like ladies tagged with a purse or handbag, but I do understand their problem we men have atleast 5 pockets to tuck in every thing from cell to wallet, papers visiting cards and extra cash for every lady it is not possible unless they are dressed in jeans/ trousers. Well men you have to give that extra place to them... come on be a gentleman ;))

If not in bags then where else is one supposed to carry things like documents, pen, visiting cards and even mobile phone etc. One looks more organised and caring towards what he is carrying with him if using appropriate bag;briefcase. But then the bag should suit the person's position. A manager should not carry a colourful or funky bag while going on an official visit.

It is already a trend. Men do carry bags. Not just brief cases and laptop bags. But it is totally need driven not trendy.

I believe so too.

Today I cannot move without my laptop bag that has enough stuff in it! Carrying things in pant pockets is cumbersome, bulky and very tacky!!

Absolutely !! As their lifestyles evolve and become more complex and they start multitasking too (like women already do!!) they will need to carry around more stuff...and all that will definitely not fit into their pockets !!

Add to that, the fact that they are getting more conscious of their wardrobes, and are actually getting into creating different looks for different occasions...this is bound to happen.

Also note we are talking of Asian men here or rather Indian men...the Global male already has a small wardrobe of bags for various occasions.

That being said, i think i would be apalled and not just a little embarrassed if men suddenly start discussing bags with women or go 'OMG, i luvvv that bag ...' in all the malls .

i think that kind of an obsession with clothes , shoes and bags is best suited to the female of the species !!

As per my view men usually carry bags only for laptop and files not for any other things i.e. make up kits or toffees/chocolates etc.. Maybe same for near future...

In this curious debate, one may fear : The cat may come out of the bag".

Here we have equally learnt about Ladies purses or bags, as obvious references ... !!

--   for men,  carrying a bag / brief case is generally handy. These days we are to carry our small child (Laptop) along with ... !!

--   If one prefers to keep everything in this bag, that may be dangerous if lost en route. Wicked people are watching ur bag - be cautious .. !!

--   most small shop-owners charges a bit extra for purchases made by a man with a "bag" in hand - or dont allow discounts

--   our IT people may innovate a GSM type embedded chips for our bags - this may help us quickly locate bags if lost in the way ( .. a hazard ?)

--   if U are not in ur car, walking along the road, Taxi-drivers frequently may approach U for a rent their cabs  ( ... a plesant moment ?)

--   some times the "bag" is handy to make small purchases en route home ( only for men ? )

There is no change for men... It's all about the necessity of things we carry.

Most of the men doesn't like to carry anything, it looks more professional..
Bag is carried only when laptops are with us..

Females however carry a lot in their bags. Trust me, we had an occassion once where girls have to show all the things they carry to beautify themselves... and u know what.. the winner had 54 items in her bag..! So it's anyway a must for them! ;)

I don't think so. Men normally want to carry as less things as they can in their hands. Maybe we can find some men carrying bags that doesn't mean every man has accepted the change. Still men feel awkward to carry extra luggages in their hand. Men like to keep their hands free as much as possible.
