Microsoft and Nokia have announced an alliance to bring into an alliance that will bring Microsoft Office Mobile and other productivity software to Nokia mobile phones. This move is clearly targetted at taking RIM (Blackberry), Google’s android & Apple's iphone smart phones head on.

Microsoft office enabled nokia phone: Will it be able to compete with iphone or blackberry? Whats your take? You might be eyeing one.

Yes, it will definetly make a big dent to the existing iPhone & Blackberry market. The hype around iPhone is because they are the first in the market with some break-through features in a handset. Apple will have its niche market segment. But, thats a limited market segment, MS enabled Nokia would be for the masses.

It is Nokia's and maybe eveen MICROSOFTS' bid to regain lost grounds!!

MS gets to showcase their newer applications on a cell phone as popular as Nokia nd Nokia gets the most widely used software of MS... WIN WIN situation for both provided people start dumping their RIMS, ANDROIDS and IPHONES!! After paying such a price and these cell phones already leading the marjey with loyal consumers, I have my doubts if Nokia would be able to DENT the market and create a ripple!!

Good debate Sonia, thanks for the referral!!

In my opinion, this alliance will atleast help Nokia to gain market share in the smart phone segment. Nokia’s lack of business tools weakens it position in front of Blackberry and the iPhone. Given the penetration of mobile phone users in India and the global growth of smart phone sales all indicate that eventually India would be a very important market for this Microsoft Nokia alliance.......

There is no way they can crack this segment of phones even though they are leading in the world market in  mobile phones.  As there are too many players to compete with, there is RIM, and nwo Android phones to content with htc, iphone, palm pre, no way they will be able to create an impact, and the phone they have come up with is N900 which doesn't look that good and the other players in this arena are having way better model than Nokia in terms of smart phone.
