Please read my posting on 'Money through Mobile' (MTM) for financial inclusion and Microfinance service to people in lower economic strata.

In addition the proposed system can take care of all ssorts of e-money transactions and micropayments online without the involvement of banks.

Given beow is link to the news about my proposal in Business Line of 2nd Nov 2010.  This can be implementd straight away using existing technology as being used for prepaid mobile. If necessary government should set up an exclusive private Mobile Network for this purpose.

The system can be owned by NPCIL under the ambit of RBI, or a consortium of Telecom service providers or by Department of posts in collaboration with BSNL.

The system shall be transparent to Telecom Service Providerrs and regular Banks.

I have given a detailed presentation on this to BSNL Kerala and IEI Trivandrum. Contact me if more details are needed. I would request someone who have some contacts in Finance Minsitry to forward the link to them.

Yes, I think it is a great technique to capture the market. I think this market has large potential to grow when the urban area is becoming crowded with many venture capitalist and banks.

What I think is that it is not a great technique because if we talk about India, here 60% of the population is living in rural areas and out of which 50% of the people does not have access to mobile phones. Just in order to revel the number it is approx 3million of the population which does not have access to cell phones. And after that we are thinking of selling micro finances through mobile phones, when the product through which we are trying to sell micro finances is itself not reaching the people how would the service of that product will reach?
