I believe that more people will go for mobile trading as mobile is more handy device one can have. One can even do the trading on the move, that will be the major advantage of mobile trading. We can get the details of stocks and latest updates whenever we want. As the number of mobile users increasing by millions in a month, i think mobile trading will be more popular over internet trading.

I support Internet trading not just because mobile is slow or it dose not support any such actual trading softwares (odin diet) which support trading of stocks on mobile you can just see prices in my knowledge, but my view is if a day trader have a handy device he/she may end up with losses. According to my experiance if a trader gets price updates regularly on his/her mobile he/she may tend to become aggresive in trading and may end up with losses

So internet trading is the best for a trader

If we can use mobile for banking purposes, it can be certianly used for Stock trading too. Looking at the current eco-system of Mobile industry as whole, there are lot of factors which hinders the growth of these type of commercial aspects through Mobile.Firstly, the security of the transactions, secondly avialibility and stability of GPRS connectivity,I guess emergence of 3 G technology will help solve this issue. Thirdly the web experience on mobile for easier manevourabilty will enhance the usage which will result in more trading.

Definitely Mobile as a medium will overtake the internet by storm in the coming years. Larger handset more customized application will drive the trading on mobile.

For the state of mobile trading its better for companies to focus on providing information services on the stock prices and their portfolio which will be the key to mobile trading in the Future.

Devi first of all I don't think India is a third world country. India is a developing country and growing in an adequate way.

Regarding Mobile usage I can say that India will be the largest mobile user in a decade of time.

Few years back nobody would have imagine that in India everybody will be holding mobile phone even a rickshaw puller, Kabadiwala etc. Now Mobile phone is available as cheap as Rs.1000/- and India's cost of living has also improved in the last few years. People migration from rural India to urban India is also increasing very fast. Education level is also improving.

Apart from this the way technology is improving prices of mobile phone's are getting cheaper and cheaper and I think few years time around 50% of mobile user in India will be using Black Berry etc.

I know there are few companies which provide commodity prices through mobile SMS to farmers so they can get adequate prices for the crops. If farmers who are uneducated can use the technology then I don’t think it will have any problem for educated person to use mobile for internet trading.

As government is all set to grant license for 3G, so I think speed problem will also be solved.

Mobile trading will become more popular just because of cost, compactness and mobility. Laptop or note books are more expensive and also will be heavier to carry always.

Mobile Trading will easily open out retail trading even for house wives. please read my posting "Mobile Money Manager" in "Telecom & IT" community.

By incorporating the s/w application in the mobile and in the Mobile Switching /IN system, the feature could be provided as a value added service. The idea is that every Mobile subscriber, the stock trading agents, the banks, the post Offices, the NSE & BSE etc., will have money account corresponding to their mobile number. Money can be credited from any mobile money account into any oher mobile money account. Debits for Payouts from a mobile money account to other mobile account can be done only by the Mobile owner.

I think at present circumstances mobile internet is not apt of stock trading.Yes it can be useful to see script rates etc. There are lot of bottlenecks that need to sort out before mobile trading can be used fully.

1. Security

2. Speed

3. Display-

4. Compatability with different Application etc.

Once these things will be sorted out then I think M-trading will grow   very fast.

I would look for a more utilitarian handset to appear in the market.  The display available is just a little too short.  We are dealing in money.   Whatever said and done, ease of trading does not lead to informed decisions.  One needs to concentrate even if one has an idea how to go about investing.  The present display screen is not very condusive.  If we get a display the size of a handset and if proper softwares are introduced, mobile trading will become the prepferred choice.

Any stock market or commodity market across the world is hardly depeendent on Retail investors. Retail investors form  a misicule part in daily turnover of stock exchanges and they wait for years to reap the benefit of their investmenet. Stock Exchange business can not sustain on it. To cover up their expenses, they need turnover and volume, which comes from daily jobbers and arbitragers, who trade only on volatility. Volatility comes in the market daily, many times a day but goes off very fast also. So, punching the numbers that fast can only win them the benefits, which is very tough on mobile phones. Further, to see the arbitrage opportunity between two exchanges or two scripts, a person need to flip the pages quickly, which will not be possible in mobile. So, as far as seeing live quotes are concerned, mobile phones as O.k and for retail consumers it will be a boon, but for overall business point of view, Internet trading takes the cake.

Internet trading is safer and more reliable then mobile trading. Reasons are

1. Internet trading is much faster and prices of the scrips are actual whereas mobile applications are slow and there might be delay in updation of prices by 5-10 seconds.

2. By the time the order is triggered in the market the actual rate would have vanished (as mobile applications are slow)

3. In mobile phone viewing intraday technical charts would be difficult - whereas in internet trading no such issues would be faced.

4. There are so many details a traded needs to go through which may not be viewable in mobile phone - like TBQ, TSQ, category, series.. etc..

5. The mobile phone has to be compatible with certain requirements to use mobile trading applications and everyone might not be able to buy such mobile phones moreover even if the phone has all the features required by the trading application it might still not work.. it happens a lot

6. A layman may be not be able to understand pooling and streaming connections and GPRS ports which might not be the case in internet trading

the number of listed companies in NSE is more than 1200 and in BSE is more than 4000. So toggling between scrips, creating multiple market watches, watching best five rates etc. are tedious processes while using mobile. Also we face lack of reliable mobile applications, and wap sites for trading. Mobile trading applications like Financial Technologies iWin is not making much movement in market and it require higher end mobile handsets to run the application.

I support Prakashraj's argument to an extent.

However, mobile may seem the way to go considering the many changes and improvements that seems to be happening on a daily bassis.  However, the big question is how many people in the third world countries are willing to learn to use mobile to do business? What about the age factor? How many people can afford to own a blackberry or smartphones? Or is it assumed that all business people can afford to have these mobiles with special features?

This mobile system works well in the USA and other countries. What percentage of business people are using mobile in India and China?

Internet trading would be convinient people to do online trading. As mobile is becoming popular recent time but it is difficult to operate each & every sites in the mobile. As screen space is very small compare to PC so it is difficult to work on it.

In today's fast moving era mobile trading is not good because there is wireless application protocol used in mobile and it is very slower than computer internet so, its very difficult to get the daily quote and manage the portfolio of any investor as well as any individual.

So, i go for Internet Trading which provides good speed, flexibility compare to mobile trading. There are lots of transaction have been done through internet across the world mobile is also there but if you see the scenario in india than mobile is not popular compare to internet among the people because if you asked people i ensure that they go for internet trading.
