Does modernity and money have relations?

If yes, why cheaper trousers and half skirts are named as 'modern' and a simple costly saree is called 'old'?

If no, modernity is an excellent happening around. you start appreciating changing music, changing road-romio cultures, lavish youth etc.. especially if you have got nothing to loose.

If you are going to loose bucks due to modernity.. and would not become an eyecatcher even in a small circle.. you will be reluctant to follow modernity.

The very moment anybody identifies your modern thinking, you would start thinking .."arey yaar, yeh bhi kya baat hui!! mein toh pehle se hee yeh follow karta tha" you would start realizing moderner and moderner things iside your behaviour and start publishing it.

You are right Navneet. That is what I said. It is strictly applicable to modern upwardly uppi class in metros. Their percentage should be much less then 20 perconet. They certainly not represent the collective Indian society. But we have to accept that new class with different attitude is emerging in India. There may be a single digit in terms of percentages. But they are there. We just need to debate to have an objective perrception of their hopes, aspirations n frustrations.

Well, first of all, we need to define moderniy. Modernity can be an approach towards life, or the life style itself. I am referring to modernity as in life style, the upwardly mobile segment of the society. This generation lives in virtual timelessness. There is anxiety, almost panic, is written on their faces, as they want to travel up in a very short time. They devote most of the time to their ambitions their careers. It imparts certain amenites and luxuries but at the same time there is an emotional void. They hardly have time for themselves, but being human, they need emotional comfort, may be illusive. They typically believe in "work hard, and party harder". So, most of the time their relationships becomes very focussed but functional. It is kind of partnership rather then relationship. They devide their work, friend cricle and pleasurs in their own way. There is no investment of emotional capital. There is not a thought of sacrificing or adjusting each others internal rquirements. Yes, there is lots of freedom as both partners give each other lots of space. But I beleive it becomes more of partnerships with clearly defined areas of operation rather then a relationship with emotional bonding...these are primary thoughts.
