Nowadays, many political leaders are talking about swiss bank deposits.

Before taking actions to find out who all have money stashed away in Swiss banks, government should ensure that the "declaration of wealth law" for the Ministers, MPs and office bearers of every political party, is made more effective.

The details of their annual tax returns during the past ten years shall be published in government web site that can be accessed by general public under the "Right of Information" act.

It is not about rich persons in becoming politicians, but to weed out the corrupt ones who use political influence and positions to amass wealth by unscrupulous means.

It will prevent the undesirables contesting elections. Vs The law has loop holes and therefore, it will have no impact.

Since all the politicians are on the same track, nothing is going to happen here in India. Otherwise almost all current leaders will be out.

Advani is telling he will bring back the money to India if elected back to power.. Then why it was not happened while BJP was ruling earlier?

Today I saw a news that India is the 4th Currupt nation in Asia region..

I have no hope on preventing from undesirable to contest elections, but yes this activism and questioning on black money will bring some positive change and can lead to more stringent laws in regard to this.

I support the issue. I remember the story of a mouse who was able to climb up a rope to steal food out of a Sadhu's bag. Sadhu was astonished of his act. Once he dug up his hole and found  amassed food reserve, the same mouse was meek and weak. Most men in politics are the mouse. We need laws to flush out their money reserves. Otherwise we will have politically born innovative act of stealing and corruption in the society.

Hi Paul....

Corrupt individuals and criminals of our nationalities hoard their monies. Several offshore tax havens are also used for murky financial dealings. The extent of illicit money lodged in Swiss banks is mind-boggling. According to Wikipedia, they totaled $ 2.6 trillions (Rs. 130 lakh crores in today’s exchange rate) in 2001. In 2007, they were believed to be about $5.7 trillions (Rs. 285 lakh crore), a staggering 80% increase in six years.

Swiss banks should be forced by the Election commission authorities to reveal the names of those candidates. Ideally, those who wish to influence change (politicians) must participate transparently within the official system. I would wish this happens for people of India........

May be the thief is in the ship. It is doubtful that, the current political parties will do anything serious to prevent corruption. How many of them will continue in politics if there is no scope of money making?

Yes I agree with Mr. Shaju george here that people who are proposing this are the ones who are having Black money deposited in swiss banks, why were they waiting till now to implement such a thing, they are just doing it for the sake of elections, i guess they didn't have anything more that can be speculated topic so they took on the Black money in swiss banks..Why go till swiss banks, first let them stop corruption and bribery in the country, if they had dwelved more on the corruption In India, i guess it would do more good for them and the country as a whole...so they should stop making such ridiculous comments and stop  such cheap politics....
