We all are here to be self content. At this time of my career i am supporting for money factor. Later in my career when i am at a post of GM or VP, i will concentrate more on the respect factor. Both are equally important. Currently i am balancing them pretty well.

Money means different things for different people. Money can mean status, survival, belonging achievement and a lot of other things, you can take your pick. No matter how much of a positive, optimistic, altruistic view one has of their society, the truth remains that without the almighty dollar, which hides in the back, or sits at the forefront of every large scale decision made, there would be no progression, only stagnation.

Money is, was and will always remain a motivational factor. When your pockets are full every body repects you. Respect only will not fill your belly or buy clothes or have all physical posessions that you need to survive. Money has to be there. So it is a big motivational factor. Respect yes everybody craves for but like money it has also its limitations.

Motivation is required to retain and groom the persons for both the organizational as well as individual growth.Money is not the motivational factor as it only help the people to hop from one company to another. Real motivation is making their employees loyal forever to the organization irrespective of its trends(ups & downs). This is possible and evident with the organizations practicing the value based systems to maintain the organizational culture as well as the individuals.Money motivates movers and values motivates virtuoso.

For many Indians I think money is the biggest motivational factor. It should not be - there are so many other values such as ethics, morality, patriotism, care, concern, legality... to be upheld but are given a go-by. Such is the craze for wealth that the richest amongst the rich and the biggest amongst the powerful opt for cash! That you can't carry away your bank balance or power into after-life, and that your progeny needs to be productive and earn their livelyhood like everyone else is someting that one needs to believe to get away from this race for cash.

Leave the theoretical session and come to the practical scenario, now a day’s money is almost every thing. Even if you earn a lot of respect but it was limited only to your family members, relatives or to the college or up to one galli or university. but if u have money money and money it will cross your galli, your relatives boundary, your college and even your unexpected limit of thoughts and it will takes you to the top, and by default who is on the top they have more respect and more money.....

There are different factors that motivate people, everyone is not similar, each factor depends on individual needs. Most people tend to work, because they know that at the end of the day they will get paid for it. And knowing that they will get paid motivates them during the day. By researching I have found out that most unskilled workers are motivated only because they get paid and with this money they are able to provide shelter and food for there family. Where as skilled workers who have qualifications and have been on training schemes are motivated by other factors.

Money is a motivational factor but when we have to choose among money and respect, one should choose respect because the earning money is done through mind and hard work but respect is earn from a great character that only few people possess. It is general conception that people who are more wealthy discover more ways to earn money whether legally or illegally but the person who will give priority to earn respect will never do such activity. This differs a wealthy man from a respectful dignitary.

Earning money without respect (as per the debate) is not so big deed. Money is important, I won't deny. but it should not be the motivational factor for proffessionals, especially in the beginning of the career. Jumping from company to company based on monetary factor wont be a good platform for their future. In addition to this I would like to add some one liners. Money can buy a bed -- But not sleep Money can buy a clock -- But not time. Money can buy a book -- But not knowledge Money can buy you a position -- But not respect Money can buy you medicine -- But not health Money can buy you blood -- But not life So you see, Money is not everything....

I agree that Money matters. You feel good for couples of month but after that it should be something more. I would like to quote one of my fav author here, that carrot and stick do not work always. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/yourbusiness/business-thinking/7752986/Forget-carrots-and-sticks-they-dont-always-work.html) It has to be more. In my opinion it should be the passion for your work and honesty in your actions. If you have it, money will follow.

For me its always about earning respect. Because money can be earned any which way. You could even indulge in smuggling if money was the only motive but to earn respect it takes a lot of hard work and to retain that respect is even more harder. Money can be earned, lost and again earned at any point of time in life but respect can be earned only once and if you lose your respect, you cannot earn it back. But unfortunately in todays world it has become the other way round, money has indeed become the biggest motivational factor never mindecen if you dont have respect. It all about raking in the moolah.

Money and respect both are the motivational factors and are equivalent as both is required. If one will employ a person with less salary and give him more respect then how long he will work as money is the necessity of life. But if we see the other sides of coin then if a person will be getting more money but no respect at all then it will discourage him to leave the job and switch over to other where he will get both. So we cant stay on one side otherwise it will b biased.

HI AMIT. MONEY IS OF COURSE IMPORTANT.PEOPLE WITH MONEY CAN DEMAND RESPECT BUT COULD NOT COMMAND RESPECT.ALL THINGS THAT FOLLOW A MONEY INDIVIDUAL,INCLUDING FRIENDS AND RELATIVES GO FAR AWAY FROM HIM WHEN HE LOSES THE MONEY HE HAS.ALL THESE ARE ONLY EPHEMERAL.ASPECTS LIKEGOOD WILL,REPUTATION,RESPECT ETC WHICH ARE NOT MEASURABLE LAST FOR EVER EVEN IF THE PERSON IS NOT ALIVE.

being able to use your competence, that too happily is more important, for then money and respect would automatically follow. I believe one should not be pushed into a corner to believe either money or respect is so dominantly important, to lose happiness. Once one has confidence in his competence, and allocates more importance to happiness, money and respect shall follow.

Well, both money & Respect motivates us. When we take sides we give up the real possibility for having both. Yes, it is possible to earn loads of money respectfully. It is wrong conditioning of the mind that tells us either money or respect. Again, it's a wrong belief that if you have money people will respect you. The real joy of being respected comes when people with proven track record on ethics, intigrity & values respect you not just lame ducks who salutes every tom dick & harry with money.

Money motivates & so do Respect. Its very much possible to have both Money & respect. Its the outcome of wrong beliefs that huge money would come only at the cost of self respect. or that once you have money you would be respected by all. you can create loads of money by having fundamental values in place & respect could be one of those values. money is only a means & not an end for after earning you spend it. But, when you earn respect you preserve it.

Its not very clear. Money is the biggest motivation factor for what? For doing business, for accepting employment, for continuing education, for joining services. In general if you say," money is the basis". You have seen so many inventions dumped between files without any translation due to paucity of funds/money. At the same time, Mother Theresa commanded respect just because of her respect towards services. Here, it is very clear the" Respect" brought her fame. Money plays a vitol role where it is very necessary. Where as, Respect plays a role always & everywhere.

what an irony that in India now money has overcome the spirit of honesty, integrity, and dedication towards work, but money is not the biggest motivator, some people are still there who worship work more than momney and i m with them. for challenges related to work, dignity and social respect is more desired than money.money doesnt stay always with you but your character and reputation live even after you, people know you by your work not by your money.so money can be motivator for the money seeking narrow minded people but to broadminded laborious people social respect is the greatest motivator.

Money is here today and gone tomorrow - witness the fate of even billionaires who went astray. Respect not only has to be earned , it also needs to be maintained. It is not like money , which once you invest properly , needs no more attention. And respect is equally difficult to earn and retain ; unlike money , where if you have more , you can make it grow , as long as you don't throw it around. The power to earn / make money is limited , and inevitably there will come a time in everyone's life when he / she cannot earn / make money. Respect can come to a person even after his / her death !

Money is not all, but yes it is a very very important factor. However, one has to strive a lot to earn respect. One is very well respected if he/she knows his/her field excellently. By this striving, one learns a lot not only about his field of work but also about many other things such as handling self, people & situations, etc. By striving one also sharpens his other skills. His other characters traits like self-confidence, self esteem, etc., improve and strengthen day by day. All these would lead him to get a better earning job one day or the other. Money is a thing that comes to a person one day or other. A person who is particular about earning respect, would have strong character and would not squander money when he gets it. He already would be a wealth of character and is also bound to get monetarily wealth eventually.

Motivation to do what?. The offer of more money is not going to motivate anyone to go beyond their capacity or character like steal or cheat and neither is money going to earn you respect. Earning respect will go a long way in making money too.
