Dear, Sir I think such songs portray raunchiness because there is nothing meaningful in such songs so...I totally support such songs to be a nuisance....and hope that they be banned.....because if accepting modernity refers to accepting raunchiness then why not start making songs with 'f' word or other derogatory words in any language for that matter. I guess our responses in too step reaches the ears of the makers of this song cause personally I feel they are good composers but I guess..somewhere they wanted to do something different and that different stuff was not liked by me atleast...though I listen to very selected HINDI music

Dear Prof.Narayana Swamy, You have made some sweeping statements such as cheap publicity. How do you know that they are made to garner cheap publicity. As a liberal teacher, i do accept that we need freedom of expression. However, how do you stretch this freedom? Some of the magazine covers, news papers especially Times of India in north, you cannot see them in the company of your children or students. Now how do you address the issue? just keep quiet as freedom of expression or look it other way? If a person sings this song to your nearest relatives what will be your reaction? you keep quiet as expression of freedom or encourage as it helps expression of freedom?

Films are meant for entertainment. Lest some jocular remarks, it can not entertain people also. So, the lyric writer / story writer need to see that, the content anyway, does not hurt / offend the feelings of the Mass. Because, for which movies are produced and sold.Hence, they need to be cautious to keep away from such issues. Because, in the opening itself they mention that, the character / story is illusionary & does not portray any real individuals. Even then, if it offend the society at large they need to revise the issues when making entertainment films.

Disha, I fully support your views and ideas. We should oppose from every corner this type of songs and activities but the thing is that our administrators, politicians and the sponsor of such songs are interacted eachother and they are escaped from law.

If that happens, then there is no creative freedom left. For every song or news paper article if we start banning things, then there wont be antyhing left in this world to ban. Just because people have Tendulkars name, they cannot become as good as tendulkar in cricket.

These two songs, and others like them, become popular for some time and then fade away. But they do become popular because a lot of our public, esp young people, like them for their dancing parties and as club songs. It's their choice. Censor board should not interfere. Let the public ignore these songs and they'll not be made.

This sort of PILs are frivolous at the best. If we go by this logic, all boys and Guys named Shera and Jaggu should file a PIL to BAN most of Hindi films, because these names are usually associated with Film villains! Also women NGOs should file a petition agianst all TV soap operas because some women are depicted as villains or vamps in these soaps. I told as much to the hubby of this lady, who happens to be an IPS officer and an ex-IITan.

What is vulgar? It differs from man to man woman to woman. One man;s food is poison for another. Your taste of vulgarity may ge a general or simple thing of day to day events. Go and see the ancient architecture on the temple outer wall of SUN temple . It varies from place to place. Non-veg may tasty for one Brahman but may not be for Muslim or Cristian! Is it a wonder for you/ Probably you have read the Fundamental Right Chapter in the Constitution of India. It guarantees every citizen the freedom of expression and speach . The Yellow news papers contain good lot of rotten things. They have their own readers. Otherwise how can such papers survive? Writing lyric is fundamental right of the individual citizen not only in this country but also in every civilized country. If you are a conservative, reserve it for yourselves. Who are you to question the freedom of expression of other fellow citizen? The PIL is stupid in my opinion. It is filed for free advertisement and cheap popularity. It should not be encouraged is my respectful submission.

I think we should grow up. There are movies with my name shown in a negative light. Should I file a PIL? Parents of children with these names need to be more supportive rather than reacting immaturely and creating a mountain out of a molehill.
